It's not all bad news. I think GOW4 is one of the few games that will do well as a DX12 game. Running well on Nvidia will be a huge part of that success.
Yeah, I'm not upset. I bought the Win10 version myself to support Remedy. My wife got me the STEAM version as a gift. And I hope DX12 takes off, and I actually hope the Win10 store improves and becomes a viable option. As much as I love STEAM, I don't believe it should have a monopoly on the digital service for PC games. I use Origin and even UPlay (when I must). Another option is a bonus, not a negative. It's just right now, the Win10 Store is missing key features that should be standard. And it's UWP platform is only working against what PC gamers are used to at this point. Down the road, and with more successful releases like Gears 4.... it can only improve.
Just finished the campaign, what a great game! Can't understand how some reviews classify QB as average but I guess you can't argue opinions. The action is excellent and the story is well written I think. Plus if there's one acceptable reason for a game to recycle locations, it's time travel Off to do a second playthrough with different choices, see how they matter (if at all). If I had one complaint or a wish for possible DLC / sequel: more gameplay, less cinematics. Though kudos to Remedy for trying something different. Thank mercy for the Steam version. I had basically zero interest in this game before Steam release (after hearing about W10 Store release issues) and without it would have missed this completely.
Yes. It's why I loved Remedy's games so much. From Max Payne to Alan Wake to Quantum Break. Their titles have such a unique sense of style to them. Brilliant writing and characters, entertaining and engaging stories... and there's always that little bit of Remedy's odd sense of humor. Though, definitely less of the "odd" this time around. But still a great game. And I would LOVE a sequel. But... Alan Wake 2 first.
Yea definitely! The beginning of QB does drop a "slight" hint at that (TV at the tent). I know I said before it's just a reference but having seen it myself now I dare hope a bit more. I laughed out loud when I saw Sam Lake as the other FBI agent! Also I'm fairly certain the female agent was a Finnish actress but can't quite recall her name.
There are a lot of references to Alan Wake in the game. The video in the tent you're talking about... a chalk board in one of the class rooms.. There's also one of Alan's 'Alex Casey' novels on a desk before the Ground Zero site. Plus Burke's wife is reading one in one of the TV episodes. Also... there's a TV that shows casting auditions for a new narrator for Night Springs. The TV in Alan Wake, that Alan was a writer for. Remedy have said several times... they LOVE Alan Wake.
Yup caught those as well. Good that Remedy owns AW IP themselves. I wouldn't mind backing a Kickstarter or something for it if they needed further funds to make it happen. Especially if that could make sure Microsoft isn't involved in the process... Max Payne had (introduced to gaming basically) bullet time, Alan Wake had the light mechanic and Quantum Break has Time Powers. Each game is a third-person shooter with novel mechanics and it feels like Remedy has always taken a step further with successive series of games. Interesting to see what they create next, whatever it's called.
Steam version was updated. https://steamdb.info/app/474960/history/ EDIT: .\data\plugins\remedy\modules animationinputlogic.plugin.meta - 15kb camerasystem.plugin.meta - 11kb hud.plugin.meta - 8kb particle_simulation.plugin.meta - 3kb wedrendering.plugin.meta -5kb (EDIT: Plain text, shame I didn't keep the old versions for comparison.) .\videos\ cine_63_400_420_450_4k.bk2 - 404mb (Thus the 400 MB patch size then.)
^ fairly sure 400 MB can't contain all the videos... (it's almost two hours worth of HD content after all)
Yep and that's gone now, as for what those other files do though I have no idea but it's not much of a game patch it would seem. As for the full 4K live-action episodes? Those are almost 80 GB and are not included. (Regular videos exist in 1080p and 4k variants though and take up some 13 GB or so of space all in all.) (Meaning stuff that is pre-recorded and used in the game for various sequences and stuff like other animations such as the TV one in the first part of the game.)
Yeah, the live action TV episodes re around 80gigs at 1080p. But, PC has the option of streaming them at 4K... so, download size for PC would possibly be much larger the 80gigs.
I clearly don't have a good enough connection to stream 4K videos, i can barely watch 1080p at times. So, the watermark is gone..! Well it really felt awkward i've to say! I'm 12hours into the game, and no idea how far i am out of the overall storyline. *Just checked* Well, i'm barely mid-story, damn. That's good ^^...
Honestly, the watermark thing... it's been there since the Win10 release. And nobody noticed until now. It wasn't a shockingly obvious thing. It literally popped on screen for less then a second and was gone. It's good they fixed it, but it really wasn't this massive thing starring you in the face.
