World of Warcraft: Legion

Less than 12 hours here now. I thought my new RX 470 would come before launch but FedEx is saying tomorrow :-(. That would be exactly a week coming through Newegg and FedEx from California to here. I should have paid the extra $2 to get it 2 days sooner.

I played for 3 hours last night and barely did over a level lol

Oh and the launch was buttery smooth, really impressive.

 

Played for 1½ hr yesterday and did 65% of a level (still haven't left Dalaran btw )
I didn't even notice there was a launch, very smooth indeed.

The Artifact quest-line is fun so far.

 

I would expect better graphics for such an expensive and monthly subscription based game as World of Warcraft.

 

It's ~12 years old, not sure what you were expecting.

They've done a lot to improve the graphics but there is only so much they can do.

One of the main reasons it remains so popular is that it will run on just about anything - advantage Blizzard from that point of view.

 

It's basically a rule of law at Blizzard that their games are designed so as many people as possible can run it.

And each expansion has improved the graphics from the last one. Besides, who plays WoW for it's graphics?

 

Yeah but HL2 is 12 years old and still looks better in DX7 mode.

Good thing i still have Fortnite, i guess i play that for another week untill these issues are blown over.

 

Blizzard are great at pushing the limits of their engine and they do just that once again. Tons of new props and ground clutter making it look a lot better than Northern Barrens or Ashenvale. You can notice this by looking at the FPS which is lower than normal since more things are being rendered.

They'll never port their game to a new engine since the beauty of WoW is that it runs on a multitude of systems. Hell, 10 years back I could play the game on Low on my crappy university laptop.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if they implement DX12 support further down the line as they did with DX11 support.

Back on topic the game is great so far though I wish I had known that one could have Artifacts for all class trees at lvl 102. I've been leveling as Holy Priest which isn't exactly efficient

 

Graphics are very noticably improved, but this can be seen in the new zones, no change to old zones. What is visible instantly is more detailed terrain mesh, the texture resolution and lighting.

 

102 level in one evening so 4 hours or something. Today to 104 I guess. Starting ilvl was amazing 613 so I had trouble keeping myself alive lol. Oh and that druid area my fps was at times 25.... That was horrible.

 

Same as you, played about 1½hrs after midnight launch and got to 101.
Yesterday I played for about 3hrs and got close to 103.

Regarding FPS, it's lower than in the old world but everything looks so much prettier. You can really see the difference in texture resolution, lightning, props and so forth. Still a bit amazed that the expansion is so huge (20GB?).

 

I played for about an hour and half and only did about 75% of a level. God im slow lol

 

Shadow Priests are not fun to level due to their complicated rotation and low burst damage. Thinking about powerleveling him in dungeons.

Having massive Lag Spikes here in EU and it's only 13:00 PM >_>

 

Didnt have any lag at all to be honest, its been very smooth for me. Maybe something went wrong during server maintenance? If anything its been a very smooth launch

 

I'm calling it a day already, the lag on Silvermon-EU is so so terrible.

It's the same disaster as with WoD and they havn't done **** about it.

My Sub runs out in 32 Hours and i wont renew it untill next week or even the second week of September.

 

Me neither and I've played every evening (~prime time) since launch.
