While there are many excellent custom air-cooled 1080 card on the market, there is love for liquid and hybrid cooling like we have shown in the MSI GeForce GTX 1080Â Sea Hawk X review. Evga is working... EVGA Launches GeForce GTX 1080 FTW Hybrid
Good to see they are continuing with these hybrids. I love my EVGA 980ti Hybrid. Stays silent and cool and since having it I never have to worry about my temps getting too high ever again.
Yeah, I used a AIO liquid cooler on my GTX980 (with Kraken G10). It's so great not hearing your GPU fans.
come on, EVGA. why is there an extra fan on the GPU when it has a liquid cooler? everything that needs cooling on the GPU should be cooled by the same liquid cooler. instead of properly extending water block over VRAM and VRM, you just go lazy and sloppy with your cost saving measures and use CPU block. I can get the same result by using Kraken G10. this is how you do a liquid cooled GPU.
temps are certainly good, but noise-wise it can be worse than some top air coolers. In this example, vs R9 290X Vapor-x http://www.kitguru.net/components/g...aken-g10-liquid-gpu-cooling-bracket-review/6/
Tonight i'm going to rebuild my 1080 with the evga hybrid water-cooler need to pick it up this after noon.
Has anyone used one of these Hybrids in a Temjin TJ08-e mATX case? I have a new build in that chassis and will need to upgrade my gpu in the next year or so. Design-wise this seems like a match made in heaven for that case...
Wrong. EVGA design is more thought out. Gigabyte = very hot VRMs. At least evga is smart enough to know that VRMs require airflow. That gigabyte design is illogical. It does not cover the VRMs, according to their past designs(980ti one looks the same as this one) But if it does, EVGA is still fine. Many cards with AIO kits have just GPU block only and no airflow over VRM. Edit: It does NOT have a full coverage block. Water only comes in contact with the GPU. VRM has a heatpipe based heatsink extending over from GPU. Not a smart design, that heatpipe will not conduct enough heat to make much difference. No airflow = bad.
I got my Evga hybrid cooler installed since yesterday.:nerd: http://i.imgur.com/umku1Gj.jpg The standart radiator fan can be a bit noisy if it spins up i wonder if i can disconnect it and connect it to my fan controler.
Sure you can. But a better option might to be to get a replacement fan. Noctua F12 or something else good for radiators.
Thx Agent-A01 i'm going to disconnect it then and hook it up to my fan controler. And i will go to my local pc store to buy a nice Noctua fan thx for the tip!
