After having worked flawlessly since i purchased it, lately i'm plagued by a bug many owners of the 970,980 and 1000 series have had since the start.
When playing a game (Squad, Dying Light) suddenly my Samsung monitor will go black, looking for a signal, and after 3 seconds or so i get the normal picture back.

First i thought it had to do with heat, so i installed MSI Afterburner and raised Fan speeds at lower temps. I thought it was fixed but sadly i still get black screens / loss of signal. When the signal is lost my GPU temp can be as low as 70C, working 100% load.

The 970 is running at stock speeds and i never touched any settings and bios.

Does anyone have experience with this?
What else can cause the loss of signal, PSU? Or is the 970 dying?

    Thanks for any help.

Have you tried a different monitor and/or different monitor cable?

Hi EAK, not yet. It's next on my checklist, i have to get a new cable and test it.
After a lot of googling i will try underclocking the GPU now.

What makes this extra weird is that it only seems to happen when it's dark in-game. It's like my monitor *thinks* there's no signal when it's dark.

Hopefully, I'm going to buy a new monitor soon. 4K with g-sync. Then i can rule that out too.

Try re-seating it again, and if that does not work then try a different cable, then try different drivers, then check the molex connectors are all secure.

How old is the card and how old is your PSU.

Consider checking your current VBIOS and update it if needed.

Not sure if the model is similar to yours, but I suggest you run the VGA Tools -- @BIOS for precaution.

    One of changelog:
    Improve compatibility with some monitors

You can run GPU Z and see what you're bios name ends with, like F4, F50..etc. Then check Gigabyte website for bios updated for your card, if available.

Sorry to reply to an older post but i wanted to add this for history's sake, should anyone ever experience similar symptoms.

It appears this bug was not because of a malfunctioning graphics card, but rather the monitor itself.

Thanks for your suggestions guys, sorry to reply late but real life got really busy.

(I have made a new post about this in the monitor forum.)

I would RMA the card at this point.

Had the same problem with my 980 SLI, but after month or so the problem disappeared just like that.
