Hi, I plan on buying a 480 nitro, p400s case and mech keyboard when the Nitros should arrive on the 12th. But i am wondering.. What is the difference between these two? https://www.overclockers.co.uk/sapp...-pci-express-rgb-graphics-card-gx-37b-sp.html https://www.overclockers.co.uk/sapp...-pci-express-rgb-graphics-card-gx-37c-sp.html The only difference i can see is that the boost clock is 40mhz faster on the first card.. but if they're the same PCB and the same cooler, they should both overclock at home just as far, right? So no reason to go for the £249 version? Second question is with the p400s https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phan...se-noise-dampened-white-window-ca-045-pt.html Until Zen comes out I will be using my Gigabyte z68p-DS3 motherboard. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3899#ov The mobo has two fan headers and the case has a fan controller. I've never used a fan controller so don't know how they work, will I just plug the fans into the fan controller and the controller into the PSU? Will i need anything else to be able to use 6 case fans, like some kind of adaptor or something? Thanks. If i can get answers then i'll pre order today. PS, any recommendations for mech keyboard? Gotta be <£100.
Hi there Difference between those two cards as you are sid is boost clock and really I would have look on few other reviews how they OC bit more or I would have look on RX470 which seems is very similar to RX480,its slightly slower but price should be lower too, plus have better TDP Regarding fan controller on this case, please have look on manual http://www.phanteks.com/assets/manuals/PH-EC416P_Western.pdf If you will be not happy with this fan controller I would have look on Phanteks own PWM fan controller/splitter,I'm using this and works great there Yes you should plug fans to the their fan controller and I think there is SATA or Molex connector for power If you want to use or control more fans I think you will need Y-splitter which are easily available like over on eBay or on Overclockers, think their own fan controller can control up to 10 fans... Regarding the mechanical keyboard, hard to recommend,do you want with RGB lighting or are you happy with normal stock looking keyboard? I've Ducky mechanical keyboard, have used too Steelseries keyboard which has been in my view better as he used better MX switches, friend have DAS Keyboard which I think is great and loved to work with that keyboard and few friends using Filco mechanical keyboards which are great too there Hope this helps Thanks,Jura
Ok, thanks for your response. I am pretty much set on the 480 but i am wondering if the higher boost clock cards are somehow better, or just factory overclocked a bit more than the £239 card, which i can do ay home. The manual just says it supports 10x fans using y-splitters. I don't know what is supports without y-splitters.. so don't know what/how many i need to buy.. will i need two of these for 6 fans? https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ek-water-blocks-ek-cable-y-splitter-3-fan-pwm-10cm-wc-9ak-ek.html DAS seem to be a little too expensive, and i would like some lighting. I am probably looking at something like a k70 Red, Apex M500, Blackwidow ultimate, Gaming Strafe.. Probably i'll get the Strafe or K70 with brown switches, unless i hear something bad about them before I buy
Hi there Those OC cards are good if you don't want to OC yours card at all,I think you will be OK with non OC(Nitro+) if you can OC at home,I think 1360-1370MHz should be achievable on this card Without the Y-splitter I think you can use or control only two fans there, for 6 fans I think you will need those two PWM splitters something like you have already posted from EK Yes agree DASkeyboards are expensive, regarding the keyboard I would probably go with Steelseries which I owned non RGB version and I've been very happy there,I hated Razer Synapse and Corsair SW which are pain to use and they can cause some issues down the line, please have look on Razer and Synapse causing low GPU clocks or Corsair causing GPU clocks are in non boost state. My keyboard have MX Red switches(Ducky) and previous Steeseries 6Gv2 has have MX Black I think and this has been bit better Hope this helps Thanks,Jura
OK. I made my buy list.. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/sapp...-pci-express-rgb-graphics-card-gx-37c-sp.html https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phan...se-noise-dampened-white-window-ca-045-pt.html https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aerocool-lightning-led-fan-red-140mm-fg-026-ae.html --x2 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aerocool-shark-devil-red-edition-led-fan-120mm-fg-009-ae.html --x2 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ek-water-blocks-ek-cable-y-splitter-3-fan-pwm-10cm-wc-9ak-ek.html --x2 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...rd-cherry-mx-red-ch-9000088-uk-kb-049-cs.html Please just confirm that these cables will work with these fans, and both will work with the fan controller. Also, my motherboard is old and doesn't feature USB 3, only 2.0 and 1.1. It will still work with that keyboard, right? I'll go with Corsair in the end because i trust the brand and the aesthetic is nice, also it has USB passthrough which is important for me at the moment, with two dodgy USB ports on the MOBO. Wish Zen would hurry up. Thanks for all of your help.
Hi there Yours list looks OK there, only with which I'm not sure are yours chosen fans as they're I think 3 pin and not PWM and they will be running at full speed(1200RPM),only those Aerocool Shark Devil Red Edition LED Fan - 120mm yours chosen can have lower RPM(800RPM) with voltage reduction cable,if fans are not PWM then I'm not 100% if you can control fan speed with Phanteks fan controller there, with normal fan controller you can control any fan I would say You are really want PWM fans or you can try those fans if they will work,I cannot confirm this sadly as I've never run such fans Regarding the keyboard,I would think this keyboard as per their website Keyboard Connectivity: Connecting via USB 3.0: Use one connector (the one with the keyboard icon) when connecting via USB 3.0 Connecting via USB 2.0: Use both connectors when using USB 2.0 * * Plug in the connector with the two arrows icon first, and the connector with the keyboard icon second. You can buy USB 3.0 PCIE card,I've used few of them in past and all of them has worked flawlessly Hope this helps Thanks,Jura
I have no idea about the phanteks controller either. Tried to register on their forums but the confirmation email brings up an invalid page error. I've gone ahead and ordered and gave a note to overclockers asking about whether these fans, the controller and the splitters will all work. No reply yet. If they don't work i'll just send them back. One good thing about the UK is you can return any item within i think 14 days for any reason.
Hi there You will see and hope so those splitters will work,I've Phanteks Enthoo Primo and there I've tried BeQuiet Pure Wings 2 which are not PWM and I've been able to control them without the single problem with Phanteks fan controller Yes agree at least you have here 14 days cooling off period which allow you to return item when you don't like it,its good when you buying from online shops Happen to me with few things and most of the companies will refund, some companies like Kikatek or Lambdatek are worst companies in this regard, bought for friend EVGA PSU which has failed after powering on and refund took them 2 months Hope this helps Thanks,Jura
