Hi my local store has a asus strixr r7 370 4gb on sale that I want to pickup. Before you say anything I don't have cash for more and i don't saving ability for something better (200 cdn b4 tax). What I need to know has anyone used gcn 1.0 with dx12 Yet? Correct me if I am wrong but the r7 370 is gcn 1.0 Right? Because I owned a club 3d 2gb model that I never got to test as it died on me in dx12. Help.

Im using TahitiXT gcn1.0 and it works with every dx12 i've tried. Tomb Raider, Quantum Break, Forca 6, Hitman. API overhead works, Time Spy as well.

Vulcan is also working and doing miracles with even gcn1.0 cards.

Is the deal really that good? Is there any other options? 370 isnt the best this days (7850 rebranded). I would suggest you skip the deal not becouse gcn1.0 but becouse 370 is a weak card.

also, my store also has a msi gtx 950 2gb card for $200 cdn? Would that be a upgrade? $226 ($200 cdn plus ont. tax) is all I can afford.

What about some used gpu's? You comfortable using it? Maybe at 200$cnd you can get something even better.

Used R9 R9 280's or even 290's would be sweet. More Vram, more power.

Don't buy a 950. It would just be a waste. Do as Undying said and get a used card. It's scary at first to buy used but if you get it through Amazon you get decent buyer protection. You'll be much happier with anything but a 950.

My old 7850 is gcn 1.0, does dx12 and vulcan just fine. You should do about the same with a 370, maybe a slight bit faster if anything. If it's a good deal i would go for it.

It is half a province away from me. For reference Province of Ontario is about twice the size of Texas.

wheeljack12 should buy millibytes card for $75 shipped before someone else buys it...people were selling these for 150+ just a few months back...performance wise it twice as fast as the cards in the OP.

This card will be sold by tomorrow at that price! And yes DX12 and Vulkan both work very well on these cards! Actually in many or sometimes most cases it outperforms the newer 380x 4GB series. (in older titles)

950 its not a bad card, depends on what games are you thinking to run.

    GTX 950 OC vs R7 370 OC

    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1663?vs=1669

The gtx 950 its better than the r7 370 and 750 ti (this one being very popular).

as you can see, if you overclock the 950 its like a r9 280X stock and this one can't be overclocked too much, so its kind the same performance, try to get the 4gb version.

    $200? Why not get a 470 then?

Or get millibyte's card for $75 that's exceptional value.

950 ftw oc is fast as 960 or even faster. Also, those are old. Let's take a look at new BF1 benchmark with latest drivers :

280X is fast as gtx780 is many new games. For that price millibyte is offering his card is very nice deal :

    Or if its not possible,get an R9 380 4GB.Good luck. :)

I'm using my laptop with r9 m265x in dx12 and vulkan. Vulkan is giving second wind in Dota 2.

I see RX480 4GB models new for $259.99 CAN (+$12 ship) just on a quick search. I would think this is a better investment vs the other offerings. Also RX470 is out.

Or skip across into US and buy one locally, as they're cheaper.
