It doesn't. See my post above regarding temps. Windforce for high-tier GIGABYTE cards used to be great but apparently they stopped caring.

Consider replacing you thermal paste and check the mounting also...would not hurt at least ;)
What are you load temperatures, Idle depends on many factors...so better don't judge based on them...

Drivers? no issue so far, there's only few drivers released for pascal anyway, using that hotfix driver and manage to normalize my latency.
Temps, it idles at 40-45C for me (0 RPM fan) and loads at 66-73C depending on the time of day (i live on a tropical country).
I haven't pushed it very far in terms of OC, but at stock, core boost runs at ~1930-1970Mhz, added a bit of offset and it goes ~2100Mhz and normalizes at 2033-2070Mhz with ~114% power limit and stock fan curve, voltage. memory is at 8500Mhz but i think it can go furhter.
Hmm im not noticing a coil whine so far, my CPU and case fans are too loud to hear the card whine and fan noise

Sweet! That's some good and positive feedback. Thank you Viper!

I mostly wanted to know what to expect from card so I have a baseline to know if its performing properly.

    Hello folks,

What program can I use that will tell me if I have artifacts or not, sometimes my eyes deceive me. :)

I have overclocked my MSi GTX 1070 X Gaming GPU to the following:

    GPU:

    Core Voltage: Stock
    Core Clock: 2075Mhz (+130)
Memory: 4498 (+500) This card is using GDDR5 Micron memory.

I have run Unigine Valley and Heaven and didn't see any artifacts, but I would like to make 100% sure there are no artifacts. Does 3DMark tell you if it scanned any artifacts?

    Thank you folks. :)

How many times did you run the valley benchmark? Also either program can detect instability if there is any. What version of Valley benchmark did you run because there is the free basic version, the advanced version for 20 bucks American dollars or Pro for $500. Your best bet to make sure you have a stable OC is to run a continuous loop for an 1hr or so.

    I can't clock my card very well, it's gtx1070 G1 Gigabyte.

On +120mhz on clock core I need +100mV and even then I get artifacts, yet with that I get just from 94fps to 97fps only !

    Also in 3dmark, Spy - http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/13551470
    While Firestrike 1.1 - http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9473436

In graphic test 2 I get like 30fps LESS then other stock cards. I tried both latest official nvidia driver and .95 fix. DDU used, reinstalled MSI Afterburner. Not sure what is wrong, any idea ?

Dissapointed.. Lower performance, less overclock not only for me. Overall 980Ti is better card at the moment looking at FPS counter and raw power.

overclock the vram, and you will go over 20k on the graphics score.

Just realized. So wait, memory clock is what keeps this card among top synthetic benchmarks ?

    980Ti @ 1500/7600
    http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9321984
    Graphics Test 1: 102.66 fps
    Graphics Test 2: 81.87 fps
    Graphics Score: 20951

    1070 @ 2012/9000 (2050 but it throttle on 2 places, 55c and 60c)
    http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9474832
    Graphics Test 1:98.24 fps
    Graphics Test 2:81.64 fps
    Graphics Score:20509

Now it's fairly good, Crysis 3 is running identical as 980ti on those clocks.

With a +90 on clock, +60% on Voltage and +600 on vram, in Firestrike I get over 20k on graphics and near 16k on total with my EVGA GTX 1070 FTW.

I know the 980 Ti's are better overclockers, but the 1070 is a better card...just that they don't OC like the 980 Ti's.

I get that. I got +100 on clock and +500 on vram without unlocking voltage now. Not sure is it worth to get ~50mhz on core as it was worth on 980Ti though.

One more question, is it normal for (G1) in my case, to throttle on 55c and 60-65c from 1250 to 1212mhz ? I know it was a thing on 980Ti for over 60c by going down for about ~15mhz (so custom bios was important for those who wanted to avoid), but this is like on 2 separated spots now ?

P.S Over 65c is going down on 2000mhz..

You should be able to squeeze out more from the 1070 vs me because of my old CPU

I think you lucked out with that card mate.

GPU-Z reports my MSI GTX1070 GAMING X is using Samsung memory which is known to be some of the best around. I can do +600 on it with ease.

I tried my core clock at +130 but i started to get artifacts in 3dmark Spy demo so I backed it off step at a time to 120, then finally dropped to +100 and zero artifacts now.

I am also using +100% on the voltage as I am running under water and temps are no an issue at all highest temps I have seen is 47C :D

If you are only getting 2075MHz with +130 on the core then it looks like you either have a bad overclocker or you haven't upped the power limit as with max 129%/92C on the power/temp limit my card boosts it self to 1987MHz. With +100 on the core I get 2076MHz.

Try upping the power/temp limit and see how your card boosts on its own without any overclock applied then go from there.

Managed to get my MSI GTX1070 GAMING X to

    Power/Temp Limit +129%/92C
    Voltage +100
    2101MHz (+115)
    9334MHz (+666)
    Max Temp 47C

Got this score in 3DMark Spy Demo

It seems the CPU test still uses some of the GPU to help render the scene as I was seeing higher frame rates during this test than with previous GPU overclocks but the CPU is always the same (4.5GHz) so it must be using the GPU a bit and overclocking helps get a better overall score.

Huge score m8 for only 2100 core...maybe running on water helps performance ...what are your Valley/Heaven/FS/FSU scores ? As I can hit GPU 21.5k/5k in FS/FSU but here in TS only 6.6k while running 212x and 213x core and over 9600 memory.

I assume definitely. Max temp 47c he is having stable boost clock. That is amazing temp. I hate fact that on air I will barely see and 2050mhz due to gpu boost 3 :(

I'm thinking about doing the shunt mod, which liquid metal did you use?

Made the conductive clue myself...just put lots of graphite from a pencil into fast clue....easy to remove and also very effective for such purpose.
