    Nvidia hacked so much off the 1070 even in comparison with the 970. I would try to sacrifice some more and buy a 1080

    At those suggested prices + cut specs, I'll skip this generation entirely unless AMD pulls out a miracle.

    Well, in my case i probably won't upgrade my card for several years so having a 1080p display could "prolong" it

    In the case of the 1070 spec wise, it has an upperhand vs the 980Ti save for the memory bandwidth but if the benchmarks are true (from cubic.com) it can still consistently outperforms the 980Ti (though not by much) and go head to head or outperform the Titan as well (save for some DX12 bench where R9 Fury outpaces the 970)

    I am not impressed by the 1080 so of course I wont be impressed by the 1070 at all. Now the 1080ti will probably be a different story. IT seems like a beast.

    Yeah and im amazed that 1070 clocks to 2ghz too?? Who would buy 1080 for OVER double the price and it clocks to 2,1 - 2,2?

    Still have to wait for more reviews if it really OC:s to 2ghz and I might be interested to buy this 1070 too, wasnt really planning to up from 970 yet but damn if it OCs that good its bargain.

    The remarkable thing about this card is its 4k performance where it nips even the TX in several of the benches.

    TX tested is 1070 core clock. Oc'd to 1500mhz TX is still the fastest GPU.

    It's not over double the price.

    Yes, roughly. Which is pretty solid.

    Makes me wonder what the performance increase would be from going from an r9 290 to a 1070 would be...?

    I'd say about 70% if you're overclocking. Depends on the game, of course. If you struggle to hit 60fps in games, this will easily do it.

    16898 3dmark firestrike for 2050Mhz GTX 1070 ( -> guru3d frontpage section run)

    ~13000 for a 1250 Mhz 290X (-> one of the many 3dmark database results)

    16898/13000 * 100 = 129,9%

    => 30% increase in a 1080p benchmark
    (we are talking 180W vs 250W tdp, so if you run the cards 5 hours a day, everyday at full wattage, just for theory, then you pay 30€ per year extra for the 290x considering normal energy costs)

    do the same for the ultra benchmark as soon as it comes out and you'll get a feeling.

    so the question is do you pay 300-400$ for a 30% increase. or do you put in another 290x (200-300$) and get a 60%-80% increase depending on how the game scales (dx11).
    and probably a 80%-95% increase with future mgpu optimized vulkan/dx12 titles.

    here are some cfx results as well (filtered by stock air cool results only):

    :pc1:a 780 to 1070 should be a good upgrade specially with the driver updates and what not and maybe during tax time the 1080ti will be out. Wouldn't know what games at 1080p in the future would need more power but hey I might hit up a 4k tv sometime.

    I'm wondering about the timetable to get a aftermarket 1070 maybe end of june?.
