Got the lyr2 yesterday but have not had a chance to hear it yet. Tubes are easy enough to take out and put in. Only got the stock tube to try out as the Telefunken and seimans are being shipped from Europe. Can't wait for these tube to come in.

Cant say I`m hugely impressed by the lyr 2 with stock tubes, got a pair of Telefunkin e188cc very highly regarded, a pair of seimens grey shields, and a pair of Reflektor`s circa 1974 silver shields coming in soon.

Usually stock tubes in tube amp's doesn't sound that well, It usually take a tube upgrade to bring out the best in a tube amp. Which usually applies to op-amps as well.

I been using Both Burson V5's Single and duals back into my gustard H10 for my HD700 and they work wonderful with the headphones. A lot more then what i thought, I also didnt expect how good they would pair together. Also i don't hear the brightness that people was saying about the HD700, unless they paired it with a bright amp or source or wasn't a good match with their gear.

When I had my Lyr, the GE stock tubes were a little coarse/harsg sounding, noted some graininess (best term I can think of) in the vocals of a female singer I always listen to. Bought a pair of Ampherex and Telefunken tubes, both of which eliminated that graininess and harshness present with the stock tubes. Amazing how the tubes can affect the sound.....hence, tube rolling can get......outta hand.

Edit - I ordered a 4 pin balance XLR cable for my HD800, it arrived today, much earlier than expected but I'm definitely NOT complainin' none.

Right now, I'm enjoying the sweet vocals of Linda Ronstadt's 'I love you for sentimental reasons'

Got the Telefunken e188cc and the Siemens e88c both 60s production. The siemens work, just tried a couple songs. Put in the Telefunken with the bifrost Uber lyr2 stack and they sound fabulous. Got a pair of reflekor SWGS 74's coming in soon. Looks like I'm done rolling. At least the expensive stuff.

Still wainting on the 2 pair of reflector swgp 1974 silver shields, taking a very long time from Ukraine, pulled the trigger on a great pair of 1961 HEERLEN, Holland made Bugle Boys Friday night in NY. They are being delivered Monday or Tuesday. Pasted the factory and came out big.

The best tubes I have found for Schiit amps is the Amperex USN CEP 7308. They put the others to shame.

Just about every 6922 type tube. Especially Telefunkens and Siemens. The USN CEP tubes have all the sonic goodness of the other tubes with none of the drawbacks, but they are expensive. A pair can be over $200.

Which Telefunkens? Those tubes you got sound a lot like the reflektors 74, 75 from what I have read. Just grabbed a set of philips miniwatts e88cc to round out my collection after all my research. The reflector 75 holy grail is impossible to find so I got the almost as good 74`s.

Congrats.....I am totally 100% addicted to tubes and with a nice amp that is transparent to tube rolling, the journey only gets better.

Have fun and enjoy the music ....I know you will
