So I just got the asus r9 390, installed it in my case, the. Got to lookin at all the wires. The R9 has an 8 and 6 pin connector. The card came with a 2x 6 pin to 1x 8 pin converter.

My 1000w PSU, an old school xion axp-1000r14he, has 2 available 6 pin connectors. I think it may have come with 6+2 pin cables, but if so, they are in storage 17hrs away.

What do I plug in to where?

A 6 pin to 6 pin connector, and a 6 pin to 8 pin connector?

    A 6 pin to 2x6 pin-8pin adapter and a 6 pin to 6 pin connector?

Both 6 pins to the adapter?

Really don't want to fry this thing fresh out of the box lol

Like I said, I have 2 6 pin lines. My 6+2 pin lines are in storage 17hrs away.

So basically, you do not have the required setup to run this card.

The 2x 6pin > 8 pin takes 2 separate 6 pins from the PSU to make the 8 pin out put. That leaves you with a 6pin on the GPU cable-less.

You will either have to go get it from storage or order 6+2 cables.

BTW XION PSUs are garbage and i wouldn't risk that in my system, you may know that already though.

Eh, the XION has treated me well for 6 years, no problems :). Would I get another one? No, from what I've read, like you said, currently they are garbage.

Since my storage is 17hrs away and finding a modular cable that would fit is proving quite difficult, and seeing as the PSU is 6 yrs old, recommendations for a new PSU?

Currently specs are same as to left, except the GPU being R9 390 now, and 12gb same ram rather than 6gb. Thinking a 750w, would like to stay about $100 range

Something like this perhaps: http://m.newegg.com/Product?itemNumber=17-371-079&Keyword=Antec edg 750

I did notice the ATX12V doesn't say 2.2... Does that matter?
