June 2015 microcode update for Intel processors in Windows (kb3064209)

Something like that? . The most likely reason why they put it in as a Windows update is not just because they can, but because most people never update their BIOS. By having it as a driver, they can work around that. CPU Microcode updates are typically to fix errata, not to directly improve performance.

 

I also have a i7 4770K and the latest BIOS 1603 for the Asus Maximus VI Formula.

Where did you saw, did it appear in August windows 8.1 update?

Install this hotfix and you will see if it changes. No harm done.

Mine is still 1Ch after I upgraded to win10, also in that time I downgraded bios to one earlier 2004 version (had 2103) and it didnt change.

Anything intel.. Just try it, check aida64 cpuID for current and later again if it changed.

Well unless you're already @ win10, then it should be included since 10130 release, at least that's what I saw when I tried to look for win10 version.

 

nope, no win 10 here. dont want it.. only in my virtual machine, lol..

Its mostly for windows stability and how it handles cpu instructions..

Check here which files get replaced, well if that tells you anything

Was the update KB3064209 listed under Important Updates or Optional Updates for you? I could have sworn it was under Optional Updates when it first came out in June, just recently I formatted and saw tonight it's under Important Updates.

in my computer last intelppm.sys is 2006 very old, this is driver for cpu?

Did a clean install recently, this update doesn't come up anymore.

 

This update no longer shows in Windows Updates upon a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit). My Microcode Revision is @ 19 (i7-4790k). Should I manually download & install KB3064209?
