Download Anti-Beacon for Windows 10 - it prevents your PC sending data to microsoft as well as sharing binaries from your PC. ...

I've got nothing to hide :) Tailored adverts are better than random ones.

I have nothing to hide either but that is not the point.

I have used this and stopped everything on first page. Everything is still working great!

Not sure what some of the optional ones are though like Web Search Group Policy and remote reg service (which was already off for some reason). Any one know what they are?

I already turned off OneDrive as I don't use it.

So is this tool actually shutting down services or something else?

Never heard of this. Anyone compared yet? I guess it does the same thing?

EDIT: Just had a quick look at O&O and waoooo soooo many options that I have no idea what they are. Too many options in fact with very little in the way of explaining what is good/bad to turn off.

I'm using it since a month and I shut off everything but Windows updates. No strange things happened since then. :)

Anti-Beacon has some things that O&Os solution doesn't have and vice versa. O&O ShutUp is more user friendly.

    @HonoredShadow
There is a description if you click on an option. The ones with the green check mark can be disabled by most people without impairing their experience if you dont use Cortana. Personally, I did allow some of the geolocation stuff to get better search results though.

Thanks for that. I dare not touch anything hence why I did not know it had a drop down description box!

I think I still prefer Anti Beacon for me. It's cleaner and easier to understand.

I am a little confused so can someone explain further please?
Does this stop the service/feature from running at all or just prevents that service/feature from contacting Microsoft?

Anti-Beacon will disable tracking features included by Microsoft in the operating system. By clicking the “Undo” button in the main window you can re-enable all tracking services.

I've been using this on all my Windows 10 machines for over a week now. Works great, no probs.

I seriously do not understand ass the fuss about Windows 10. Do people realize that any Windows Phone, Android and iPhone generate way more detailed information that Windows?

Look at Location History at Google for example: your whereabouts, 24/7, are there. You are carrying a location beacon in your pocket, that keeps Microsoft, Apple, Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc updated on your location, what you are writing, searching, pictures you take and where, all of that:

Did someone ever believed that all these "free" things are actually free? There is no free lunch.

You can disable a lot of that, yes BUT your "find my phone" and other protection and recovery services will not work :/ . Also, no navigation, no asking Siri "stuff near me", etc.
That's life in the XXI century.

You're missing the point. I don't need any of that on my PC so bye bye!

It doesn't matter actually. Your phone and PC share the same connection at home, or you log in your PC to use a service with the same account you use on your phone. It might give you a sense of security but is just the feeling.
