    Update.

I've just noticed those sound/video stutter while watching a movie with VLC Player as well, so it's not just BF4 related...

What the hell is going on W10... :(

Isn't there a free alternative to Process Lasso?

You can do all the necessary stuff with it, with the free version.

Options---> Default CPU priorities. I have set searchfilterhost.exe, searchprotocolhost.exe and searchindexer.exe to Idle. If it keeps doing it (and you have set your Audio quality to 16/48KHz), try to set backgroundtaskhost.exe to Idle too.

Done, I'll report back whenever it happens, or if it's fixed. :)

I'm also going to disable the integrated audio on my motherboard as I do not use it.

    Thank you!

PS: Does the program need to be running at all times? :p

Yes it does. It's quite light and useful. Here it's using a total of 12MB RAM.

That's why I actually went out and paid for it :p

The amount of control it gives is awesome.

Had the issue again, but instead of lasting a couple of seconds, it lasted at most half a second.

So the trick with Process Lasso did improve quite a bit.

Let's hope they release a permanent fix for this soon, I hate it when it happens in middle of combat and I get killed lol.

Did you try setting the sound to 16/48?

I though I had the same issue but the other day my pc just went off but I just switched it back on and was sort of fine. Very strange.

Its at 16bit 44100Hz on sound card for speakers and 16bit 48000Hz for the headphones AMP.

    Still happening sadly.

    That sucks K.

I guess I've been somewhat lucky with this issue, after setting the sound quality to the absolute lowest one, I've been free of this issue for almost 2 weeks now IIRC.

Although by your findings, this spreads beyond BF4.

Can confirm the issue as well on my setup. Win10x64, 290x, 15.8, SBZ, - BF4 in DX11 mode. Framerate drops, sound goes all slowed/distorted - lasts just a few seconds and goes back to nomal, only occurs once or twice in a multi-hour play session.

I will try the suggested workaround by lowering the priority of said background tasks and post back. I had suspected this anyways, seems way too intermittent to be a driver/game issue.

There is another freebie tool that has been around a while for doing this kind of stuff - called Prio: http://www.prnwatch.com/prio/ EDIT: Bah looks like this one doesnt work with windows 10 because it binds to UI elements in the old versions of the task manager :(

I played unreal tournament for about 30min to 1 hour with no issues. Also played project cars the other night for a decent amount of time. Played BF4 for not very long and had the same issue. The only other game that will give me issues was BO3 beta.
