I noticed in Witcher 3 that fluctuations without vsync between 70-74 felt really stuttery. Maybe that's because no vsync? I did not get screen tearing when I noticed this though.

Thing i'll be going SLI myself, especially since i'm going water, would be a shame to just use one :nerd:

And these newer cards respond so much better to good cooling than my 680's did.

Yeap, same here. Although I am noticing tearing and stutter.

Anyone seen any gtx 980 vs gtx 980ti test? I have 980's and thinking about selling them and going to 980 ti. Any input on this would be great.

Well, I decided to go ahead and do it.

I have now changed both cards to run with EVGA's HYBRID Water cooler.

Very simple installation, I'm yet to overclock (will do later!).

    Temperature results (non-oc) are:

Furmark 1hr - max of 43 for both cards

Unigine Valley for an hour - stable 38 for both cards

Nice... that translates into 700 € + the shipping cost... roughly about the same then as the cheapest g1 here in estonia. ( @ 734€ )

Hey, I'm almost ready to pull the plug on one of these, I have a question though.

What is the max temperature before the card downclocks itself? I have some 780 SLi now and I don't think that the target temperature in Afterburner does anything with these they always downclock at 80C. Does it work on 980s? can you use it to make the card only downclock at higher temps?

I think the real point is that if the card is hitting 80C, you want it to downclock because it is approaching a point where things start to get dangerous for the GPU.

IMO, the solution is better cooling, not raising the temp target.

I hear ya, but does raising the temp target actually allow the card to run hotter before it down clocks?

Considering the max safe temp for these is 95c before they start actually throttling, 80c is a very low, conservative and unnecessary number.

EDIT: And to answer Nano's question, yes, raising the temp limit works on these cards and prevents them from downclocking.

    Thanks for the answer.
IMHO if it wasnt safe, Nvidia wouldnt set the limit at 95c and there's probably a decent safety margin left in there.

Rather an annoying evening here. Finally had a few hours to get my Ti's installed and running, but couldn't get the driver to install correctly. After much screwing around I realised that they don't support win 10 yet! LOL! A little suprising, but I guess its not released software yet.
Anyhow, I'm gonna have to clean install Win 8 for the sake of 1 month until win 10 is out again grrr...

It does worry me slightly that there's currently no drivers for Windows 10, hopefully that'll be sorted before launch.

Just ordered 2xEvga GTX 980Ti SC Acx 2.0+ was going to wait for the Asus Directcu card but they missed out getting my cash:). I managed to sell my 780s and the cash from them almost payed for one card, tax refund payed for the other..really looking forward to it as its been awhile since I upgraded anything.
