Grand Theft Auto 5 Thread Pt. 3

Haven't played GTA5 since the Witcher came out but had a nice enough stash of cash ready for the update. Loaded up the update popped online saw that the Osiris is 1.95 million, laughed at the stupid attempt at Shark Card gouging, bought the car, modded it fully drove around a wee bit got bored and quit.

To put some focus on this, their has been no new content since the Heists finally released, giving us yet more cars, yet more clothes, yet more guns does not make up for the fact that 95% of players online are playing back to back heist missions and the remaining 5% are playing variants of those stupid high earn money, rp glitch death matches, which incidentally neither earn you high cash nor high rp but do end up being high in the dull and boring sh*te categories.

We need new missions, and more importantly we need an incentive to draw people away from doing the same old heist after heist missions.

Great, game doesn't work anymore for me, "GTA5.exe has stopped working", i never had this before i got my 680.

Other games work fine.

 

I really love this car... it neither drives fast, nor turns good, but dang, that style!

Look at the event viewer in Windows. "*.exe has stopped working" isssnt saying anything.

 

there is a new settings in graphics called frame scaling mode.

apparently its another form of dowsampling.

The Z-Type is actually the fastest sports classic car, at least it was until the Stirling GT came out. Fully modded the Z-Type actually isnt that much slower in a drag race than some of the supercars.

Lost my patience with this game.

For awhile now I've had this strange error where the game would load then minimize right before the story mode would load when I open the task manager to switch the game back it says game not responding and I have to force it close. The only way to get the game to load was to click on online mode quickly before story mode automatically loaded.

After that the game would work fine for a few days then do it all over again. Orginally I loaded safe mode but my graphic settings get locked and no matter what I can't change a thing only option was to reinstall.

Now since the recent update I don't even get that option. The game loads then it just say initializing social club. It just hangs there for a few minutes then minimizes and no longer responds. I don't even get the option to go to game settings or pick online mode so I'm currently stuck.


Any of you guys experience this issue?

I'm at the point at saying screw it and uninstalling the game and salvage my 60GB back for something else. I've search google on this and I'm not the only one experiencing the same issue happens on a wide variety of systems so I don't think its my PC, on top of that My system is plenty enough to play with and I play the game on max settings minus anti-aliasing because there's graphic corruption on the bottom right had side of the screen if I turn it on.


One last ditch effort. I once saw in a thread somwhere a way to force the graphic options back if you load in safe mode. It involved creating a file then loading the game changing the settings then deleting the file while still in the game, exit and restart and it would be fine. I can't find this thread anywhere

I don't know what's gone wrong with this game. I've played it without any problem several times but haven't tried in a while and fancied a go tonight and everytime I try to start Story Mode it crashes with a zlib call error.

I also found all the settings were wrong and it was set to use 3.5GB VRAM, when I'd previously tweaked it to fit in my 2GB, so I had to go through and try and remember what I'd set it to before.

I did install some mods a while back but I'm not sure if I got round to playing with them installed. I backed up my settings.xml before modding it and comparing the two it seems the only thing I added was "<SamplingMode value="0" />". Maybe that corrupted the settings. I 've restored from my backup now anyway.

I also modded common.rpf and x64a.rpf but strangely the hash for the latter was still correct somehow. I verified all the other rpf hashes as well and they were fine. I deleted the two modded files and let them redownload and also ran a repair with the Setup Tool. I also deleted OpenIV.asi and dinput8.dll.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe I updated Catalyst since I last played. I could have sworn I installed 15.5beta but it shows 15.4beta but maybe that's just a typo. The Driver Packaging Number is 14.502.1014-150331a1-182335E. I've got the 15.5, 1023.3 and 1036 dlls here so I could try those, I just need to drop aticfx64.dll and atidxx64.dll in the GTAV folder right?

Oh, I updated MSI Afterburner the other day but the update didn't touch RTSS, which would be the only component I might suspect and I was using that OK with GTA V before without any problems.

Maybe my launcher.log shows something useful?

These arbitrary ratings don't mean much when top speed is capped at 120mph. Either way, 7.5 Vs 7.8 for the Voltic or even 8.1 for the Infernus isn't that much of a difference. Not that I said "all" supercars, I just said some. Not like its going to win drag races against the top 5.

Actually, those ratings pretty much are meaningless. Boroughy in his comparison videos proved the Z type was the fastest in a straight line and around a track when all the sports classics were fully upgraded.

are you on steam version or R* warehouse version? for steam i would do a file check of the game which will check for an update, for the R* warehouse version i would try to reinstall rockstar social club located in >Grand theft Auto V/Installers folder

 

Borough who? All i see is alot of words, and no solid proof.

The IGN list is based on rockstars own car ratings, on which the type-z is NOT the fastest sports Classic, let alone faster than any super car. Hell you only need to drive them to see the coquette Classic and Monroe is faster than the type-z...

But its increadible the urge you have to always be right, even in stuff that was in no way an argument / debate.

 

Thanks. I'm using R* version. The only file I hadn't verified was the latest patchday4ng as there wasn't a hash for that available. Repair didn't fix it but I deleted that and let it redownload and also deleted the dlcpacks/metadata.dat which it hasn't even redownloaded/recreated, so that obviously isn't vital.

Now I've got it working again, what's the best way to limit it to 30fps as I certainly can't manage 60fps but it varies between 32-45fps at the moment? I've got Vsync on in-game and in Radeon Pro I've set Vsync Always On, Triple Buffering, Display rate 120hz and Dynamic Frame Control 120fps. Should I just disable all those settings in RP and limit it to 30fps in RTSS instead?

EDIT: I still see errors in the launcher.log but as it's working, maybe it's OK to forget about those?

This guy did an objective test and the Z Type is just better than everything else in a track setting. I don't care about what "feels" faster. Get over it

It's funny how hostile you get when I'm just trying to share information. Rockstar's "speed ratings" don't relate to the handling files that the game actually uses. Just like how the top speed ratings on the website are meaningless.

Lol, and now you try to twist the Words, so that you are still right. Faster in a "track setting"... we were talking about pure speed, Down a straight line. The type-z gets owned there everytime, due to horrendous acceleration - the only Classic car that can truly stand up to non classics in a straight line, is the coquette Classic.

Btw if we are taking random peoples words as a reliable source, there is a guy who made a complete spreadsheet for all vehicle stats.
