Well those GPUs in the Mac pro are meant for CAD and Workstation based stuff just like the Nvidia Quadro cards and not really meant for gaming. Also if you game very little you can get a cheaper graphics card and save money.

Honestly, unless you find the 770 lacking, there's no need to replace it. The 970 fits somewhere between a 780 and 780ti, depending on the game. It is an upgrade, but its not massive. And a 960 is close to a 770, so you can't bother with a cheaper NVIDIA card. Just depends if you feel the 770 can't keep up anymore.

Nice. I dont see any bottleneck there. It can probably even run a 980 just fine.

Well according to the benchmarks I've seen. It looked like a decent upgrade. But maybe I should hold out for a 980? Also is there a guide people follow for an older type core i7 950 that I have in order to overclock it? I have no experience in doing it so I am hesitant.

Thanks for the guide. It's just what I was looking for. But in the end it looks like I am going to replace my setup with a used setup someone is going to sell me at a decent price. It has a Geforce 980 and a 5820k Intel cpu. That should last me for a while.
