Not a bad game but the engine is dated and you can feel it.

I would give it 6/10 and yes I have noticed the frequent crashes to desktop window and window mode appear but mehhh.

It is likely they locked to 30fps due to syncing. You may notice weirdness by overriding this if that is the case.

You know I was just about to reply and say that does't work, because after I made that change, I went back to playing and watched some cutscenes @ 30fps....

But I forgot that I thought maybe there's a new patch so I (out of habit) validated game files on steam ..... and it reverted that file. I know, I know...

It's a good reminder however. To all Steam users, if you edit any of those files - and I most certainly plan to edit more specifically the input keys file - when you download anything for the game, it very well might revert any edited INI's/config files, so keep a back up.

Well, so far... and I really have only just been running around the first big area, fighting randoms, playing with settings, but at 1080p, with V-sync set to OFF, and everything else at Ultra (including Hairworks) I am getting a stable 50-60 fps.

    If I turn off Hairworks, I get a stable 65 - 75 fps.

*note, I have NOT oc'd my cpu/gpu. Was going to, but decided to hold off to test this without it.

Performance here was crap too. I had to set it forcefully to fullscreen by messing with a few times. Gameworks makes it very stuttery.

Also is it just me or is hairworks super immersion breaking? First scene - geralt has beautiful hair, but no hairworks on yenefer? wtf.

Animals look beautiful but once again, it seems to be choking on something, some kind of bottleneck, err I don't know how to describe it. The framerate is 30+, 47ish, but it doesn't feel like that in the fluidity.

It may not be particular to this game ready driver. I froze with the 348.07's before installing the latest driver. I haven't had a driver reset yet but I also haven't played too much, and won't again until tomorrow.

Well, the cutscene .ini change worked wonders.
Also, with Vsync ON and Windowed Mode = No crashes for me.

Hairworks off (performance hit vs Visual gain is ehh ...)
    HBAO+
grass density and distance to high.
    rest on max

steady 60 fps (~100 if vsync is off, but just puts more heat on GPU)

But alot of options in the .cfg file...too tired now lol

    Just throwing this out there.

I was getting tons of crashing playing mouse and keyboard... Switched to 360 controller and suddenly, no issues at all.

It really does in some spots.

I'm gonna do some rationalizing here, because I still have a big problem with the overall result of what the consoles have left us with.

But considering there's a metric ton of stuff that none of us has, as yet @ 1am EST May 19th, discovered in this game since it is in fact open world (and not corridor built), when you put everything together, the sound design and the music, the depth of the questing (which is in no way fedex'ing) and the overall sense of freedom.... it's pretty impressive.

Again, I say this not knowing what's next. Maybe the 2nd half of the game is an on-rails snorefest with mega cutscenes. But so far, I can see myself getting lost.

....... once I figure out how to edit the damn input ini.

So many blurry low-res textures :(

The max real texture size is 2048x2048 bundled with the game, there's no difference at all between High and Ultra.

CDPR, 2010 called and wants its textures back.
