Honestly, I'm with GMG on this one. I can totally see them trying to push GOG and I think for CD to try and force people to lean towards them by reducing other options is bad for customers.

And for CD to put comments out there that implied GMG was doing something illegal was totally unprofessional.

P.S. I assume it works with all their games or just this one?

Anyone know if the boxed copy cd-key can be activated on Steam?

I'm not willing to try it out, cancelled my preorder and will order it on Steam today.

    Allright, I did some digging.

The boxed copy is DRM free and just installs oldschool without need of an account somewhere. That's what I've gathered from that thread.

I have a very nice boxed copy of Witcher 2 but I also bought it on Steam during a sale so I'll prolly do the same thing here.

You get 5% pricebonus if you already own other Witcher titles on Steam so in your case it makes total sense.

Also, if you want patches and free DLC (Soundtrack etc) a GOG account is needed, whereas it's already included in the Steam preorder.
If you don't hate Steam if some reason it's a no brainer really.

So the 16 free dlc pack is included with the steam version too?

Even with the 10% plus 5%, the steam version still costs a bit more but I'll have to think about it. Only reason why I want it in Steam is because of achievements and to be able to download instead of using optical media :)

Hm, I'm at a loss here. I'm all for digital media but in some rare cases it's nice to have a boxed copy just for the looks/feel.

I'm not really for digital media anymore unless it's movies, but I do miss special editions, just not the same digitally.
Witcher 2 and Dreamfall are the only ones I have left though.

Will probably just get the Steam version though, the least amount of hassle and I like having game series in the one place
