    Hello,

Is there a way to configure the desktop to run at 120hz but whenever I run a fullscreen game I want the monitor to run at 144hz?

If I manually set my refresh rate to 120hz and then run a game, the game will be running at 120hz also.

    Thanks,

    Yes you can.
    Set you desktop to 120Hz.

Than use nvidia Inspector - Profile Settings - Prefered refreshrate - Highest Available.

It will use the highest refresh rate available on the 3D application.

I use this trick to have power saving on desktop (60Hz) and 120Hz on games.

Why would you want to do that?

EDIT: the comment above me might solve your issue, thanks Pakko.

If you have a 144hz Gsync monitor , you get up to 144 in games but what is desktop refresh , is it 144hz as I thought Gsync is only enabled in fullscreen mode during games .

Is that a global profile or per game one , that is nice feature and should be access in Nvpanel .
Sounds like it would fix issues were GPU clocks are high in desktop mode with high refresh monitors .

U can set it on 144hz in games and 120hz, in desktop, but as soon as u alt+tab the monitor will switch to 120hz and then back to 144 and so on. So keep it on a static refresh.

Sweet, it works thanks a lot. I think you can also do the same thing via nvidia cp 3D Global settings.

I don't see a option for refresh in Nvidia cp so NV inspector is way to do it .

I've been using a 144hz monitor for years and I've always had the option for refresh...
