I selected no internet because I have used it. The internet would essentially become unusable, file sizes have increased over the years so downloading or streaming media would be out the window. Even if you could the quality would suffer unless you were happy waiting days on end for video or audio content. You'd be limited to simply surfing web pages, which again are now often designed around people having greater download speeds than dial up. Methinks there's a bit of an addiction problem with some.
And the people who work with internet? I've lived without Internet 2007-2008, had access only in college. In 2009 I had some of the worst 3G that ever existed on this planet. It was a pain in the ass to get my news and entertainment from free TV, especially here in Brazil.
In this scenario they'd have to suffer, and sadly that would include myself. I wouldn't use it for personal use under such restrictions, I'd have no choice for work purposes.
You know, --TK--, I'm going to read Heinlein, when you come back from Planet Crazy maybe you have an answer.
Why would I need to download games that I have on DVD? The games I play most often, I opt'd to purchase on physical media. My life doesn't revolve around the internet nor do my game install files. Also, the games I play most often are single player so it really doesn't make much sense to buy digital versions. I think TK's issue is the simple fact that you attempted to make a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with AMD, about AMD. There was no reason what so ever to even mention AMD in this thread.
I think having dial-up now would be the equivilant of no internet at all. The amount of stuff thats now loaded on websites is insane.
Steam has much cheaper games, especially for someone who lives in Brazil, the difference is absurd. I only play single player games, online games are filled with stupid players and even if I wanted to play I need servers in my country to get a playable game (USA servers = ping 200ms). About AMD, it was a joke about the stupid delay of the latest driver, that came with the same Direct3D version of the driver released in December. I just mentioned it because someone mentioned Nvidia. If he can't get a joke, his problem.
Generally, to be considered a joke, it has to be funny. Your statement, on the other hand, was trollish. You chose to attack AMD.
