    Hi guys!

    I've been out of the loop for a good number of years, and now needs your help with helping me choose the components for my PC.

    My end goal for this project is to be able to use 3x monitors (19"+22"+19") that can play games at a relatively good pace (i have no need for 120fps, a stable/constant 35+ fps is fine by me.

    I'm thinking i definitely need to have SLi for this, but other than that i'm not quite sure which CPU would cope with a triple monitor setup. My current plan is to use Intel/nVidia, but if others have a better recommendation i'd look into that as well.

    Thanks in advance guys!

    PS: Oh, and I have an old 580GTX lying around and was thinking of just buying another one and get that working for this project. Would that be enough for my goals? Thanks (again)! :D

    I need to choose the CPU first, selecting a motherboard should be easy after that.

    RAM is 8GB minimum, i think, or is that not enough?

    For CPU you can probably just go with i5 4690k and overclock it.

    It also depends on what games you want to play at that tripple screen resolution, what image quality... and two 580s (with 1.5GB vram?) might not be very powerful after all, trying to cope with multi screen gaming. You might just save yourself some money and put it into a newer card better capable of feeding three screens.

    Yes, I personally wouldn't go with less than 8GB of system ram.

    BF4 maybe? World of tanks? not really heavy games tbh.

    and, if i'm gonna be spending lots on the mobo and CPU, that doesn't leave me much for a new GPU. GTX 970 or better i suppose?

    PS: after reading a few articles online, a GTX580 is roughly equal to a GTX 960.

    Absolutely 8 GB as a minimum, preferably DDR3-2133, since Intel processors in the ix-3xxx range and x7x chipset or later loves it over DDR3-1600. By that I mean for example, the i5-3570K and Z77 chipset like I have.

    For video RAM, I would say 3 GB should be the minimum for consideration, especially if running multiple monitors. It may be enough since you aren't playing too heavy of a game, if you were you would have to consider possible even more than 3 GB (which starts costing a bit).

    @thatguy91

    thanks man, i'd keep that mind.

    @Odellot

    haven't really decided on the budget.. but around ~35k i guess. but that is without the added GPU. with a 970 35k wouldn't fit the bill. :giggle2: :giggle2::giggle2:

    If your target FPS is 35+..Then Probably a single 970 is enough..You can always save up for another 970 and go SLI if you want more power in the Future..

    970 is a very good upgrade from your 580Sli..970 has more vram, runs cooler and with less power consumption..Not to mention you will have single gpu with no SLI problems..

    ok.. ill set aside the GPU for now, since im down to just 2 choices; SLI 580s or 1x GTX 970.

    i'm pretty much set with the 4690K as well, which leaves me with just the mobo.

    what sorts of features does recent motherboards come now? WiFi? DDR4? any recommendation/s? TIA!

    1x 970 GTX = 2x 580 GTX = factory OC'ed 780 GTX = Titan Stock freq. lol

    Asus Z97pro gamer looks like a good choice and not too expensive either.. Z97 chipset is still DDR3.

    That Ram Odellot listed looks good.

    AMD 3XX series should be out this summer

    You could get the i5, Z97 and RAM and use it with the gtx580, then get a new GPU later in the year

    What resolution are those monitors ?

    22" @1920x1080
    19" @1280x1024 (closest it could get to 1080).

    i know dissimilar resolution is not ideal, but how big of a deal is it?
