If you do not understand how rebrands are bad for consumers as a whole, I do not know what to tell you. If these rumors are true, only the very high end will be new. Everything else will be rebrands. Me? I always buy the best, so it does not really pertain to me. Many if not most people cannot afford the best and they may be relegated to buying rebrands. 7970, 7970 ghz edition, 8970, 280x and whats rumored in the slide too. Enough is enough. Same goes for nvidia rebrands. Enough is enough.

Who cares about mid-high end rebrands, yes both sides do it..

Those who really follow the scene are only interested in FijiXT and GM200 anyway, so let them rebrand Evergreen 5000 series for lower tier if they want :p

Well yeah. Who cares about mid-high end rebrands. I got my 280X aka 7970 for 250$ when it was 'Hot'. 7970 was a 450$ flagship AMD card so thats not always a bad thing.

Anyway, all eyes are towards 390X, what happens with other cards are not a big deal at all.

Was is the key 280x was considered mid range on release like the 770. After all the 7970 price cuts they were around the $250 range in the USA. 7950 around $200. Was not really much of a deal tbh.

Don't forget about all those cool AA modes that don't see much support.

I hope there'll be an 8GB version of the 390X. The next card(s) I'll upgrade to will have to have at least 8GB of fully usable memory. I'd prefer an AMD card as I prefer RGSSAA over SGSSAA and other FSAA modes, but mere 4GB won't cut it for me.

Well it will be 4GB very fast ram, 2x faster then current 288 - 340GB/s variants, also dx11.1 - 12 games will be more memory conservative with better vram allocation - constant buffers, kinda like this now @ nvidia dev zone, posted on 15th Jan 2015.

    Interesting read:nerd:

How many times is your inner ignorant green fan boy gonna post this? Seriously gtfo if your gonna just be dumb.

    On topic,
Just got a R9 290 today. And honestly its a beast.

Just by itself it can handle BF Hardline beta all ultra 2xMSAA @ 4414x1024 res and still avg 55fps.

390x will be interesting to see what it does.

Rebrands are not simply changing the label on the card and box. The chipset is tweaked and improved as well. It really is a better card than the original one it is highly based upon.

EDIT: Well, most anyway. I have a problem with the ones where nothing is changed.

Your right look at the difference between a 7970 ghz edition and a 280x. epic improvement.

The two biggest ones that pissed me off personally were the HD 5770 rebrand into HD 6770 and 9800gtx+ into a GTS 250.
G92 was the biggest whore of all gpu rebrands.

biggest rebrand whore was the g92 by far don't forget it was a 9800gtx then a"+" the gtx was the better overclocker out of them all if you ask me.
See with the refreshes they learn how to make them cheaper which means less parts and it normally adds up to worse oc'ing results.

but wait if they do 7980 again that would be big momma refresh whore maybe of all time:nerd:

It's different with this case. Because AMD said they will compete with 980 and 970 with hawaii. So AMD must tweak it.

You meant tonga ? i considered that tweaked tahiti (based on SP number). This time AMD plans for performance oriented tweaked Hawaii (at least according to the article).
