Okay I'm dumb - what is "Affinity" and where is the checkbox for the CPU? I've never heard of this process before. Wondering if this might fix some other CPU bound games...

To get to affinity, you need to right click on the process in the task manager (if you are on windows 8 you need to make sure you do this from the 'details' tab). In the right click menu there's an 'set affinity' entry, click on that to access the affinity checkboxes.

This is correct, and after doing so I get equal usage on all 8 CPU Threads. That's the best I've seen in any game period. No game has used more than 2 threads for me before. Let alone equal usage.

Watch CryZENx video, this equal usage on all threads does not improve fps at all so this is not a fix.

Yea, it doesn't improve FPS. It spreads the load for heat. However FPS is then bottlenecked by my GPU at that point.

I still get ~80+ FPS usually, even outside. I'm about to head to Sector 0 too.

So that has nothing to do with it doing better multithreading than any other game to this point.

Edit: That Dying Light Manager that was posted earlier that had issues seems to have resolved them. I'm getting like 150+ FPS outside now. Though it seems to have disabled shadows or something even when I have them set to be on. Though it is twilight atm, so not sure.

Just have it to remove film grain, intro videos, DoF, and motion blur even while running

Edit 2: Still see some shadows so, not sure what caused the big increase or if it is temporary.

    I need to try this.

This is the 1st game that's really stressed my recent build (1x 970/4790k @1080p stock). I haven't checked the framerate, but it seems to be 20-40 FPS (instead of the 60-120FPS that other "next-gen" titles run at).

It's very nice looking and, more importantly, it's a fun game. It has it's flaws but I'd say this may be the best overall zombie apocalypse experience on the PC (a recently crowded genre).

I only have 2 gripes with the game atm.

    1) Steam is always booting me during Coop like every 20 minutes. Saying I lost connection to steam.

    2) When the game autosaves sometimes it freezes for 1-2s while it's saving. Other times it doesn't. (which might be causing #1?)

Its not to boost fps, but to eliminate 1 thread 100% and when the game abuses 1 thread it has quick low fps drops when turning around - outside.,

So this fix theoretically eliminates these sudden fps drops and making the game fps more stable.

This game performes really weird for me, i get about the same fps in 1080p and 2K resolution, i only loose 3-4 fps in 2K.
The memory usage is higher in 2k of course...

    That's because you're cpu bound..

But it is funny, one camera angle cpu bound, another gpu bound because of high shadow maps, drop to medium and you have some extra perf. room.. Also now its back to point 0 making it only cpu bound.. :D

I just hope this new patch fixes that 1x thread 100% issue, then it will run with stabler fps for sure. :nerd:

This is pretty cool, you can hold people up with a gun, so if you don't get to a drop zone fast enough, pull a gun, rob the drop, and get out of there

No weapon damage, no molotovs used
