I have an FX 6300 @ 4.2 GHz on an Asus m5a97 r2.0 and a CM Hyper 212 EVO @ 1.308 V. I would like to oc my cpu more, maybe to 4.4-4.5 GHz and would like to take the risk on my not that good for oc mobo.
Gurus should I go about it or 4.5 GHz would be absoulutely 100% fatal for my mobo?
I would also like your feedback on a cpu cooler better than the one I already have...
Would Deepcool Neptwin be able to handle my cpu at that frequency? Its in my budget.

^they ship the v2 version of the cooler.
    Do I have a chance to reach 4.4-4.5GHz @ ~ 1.4 V?
    Thank you!

i have the same cpu and mobo just faster ram

anyway your speed now is really and at the voltage your you can defo go higher

you can take the cpu voltage to as high as 1.55v so you have plenty of room, problem is the fx6300 after a certain point need bigger jumps in voltage for every 100Mhz

i can do 4.2 @ 1.3250v but 4.3 requires 1.4v and 4.5 requires 1.45v and that seems to be my max OC on this chip, people have chips that can do 5ghz but with 1.55 - 1.6v so totally not worth it, some may say its not worth me running at 4.5 with 1.45v but the extra 300mhz can mean a few more fps in certain games/benchmarks

also i defo ran into a voltage wall rather than a heat wall, these 6300's are really cool, max 62c on prime95 after 2hours, idle's around 20c on socket and 16c on cores

My mobo is one tier less than yours actually. Mine is the M5A97 R2.0 (non EVO).
    There are three of these:
    m5a97 r2.0 le
    m5a97 r2.0 (my one)
    m5a97 r2.0 evo (your one)
    Your one is superior.
    Good to know 4.5GHz @ 1.4V.
What do you think of the cooler? The Deepcool one...

Hyper 212 Evo is fine for that CPU. It's probably even better than my Hyper N620. Main difference between M5A97 and Evo boards are the vrms.

so should I push for 4.4 on my non evo board?
Also, hyper 212evo could not keep up when stress tested beyond the 4.2ghz mark; I could sell it and add some money and get the Neptwin. Seen some review about it seems a lot better than the 212 evo.
Should I get it? Any other cooler you would like to recommend...
    Please do tell.
    Thank you!

you must have turbo enabled to be maintaining 62c on air after running Prime for 2hrs. You shouldn't be using Prime anyway.

Also 16c idle temps aren't right because the cores don't register correctly until about 40c. What software are u using?

Check out the Noctua also they are very good. The Hyper 212 isn't the greatest but that's ok if just do average work and not a lot of intensive stuff like encoding.

And sure, I think 4.4 is acheivable on that board.

Prime95 smallFFT for cpu only stress testing highest I got is 58C and that was in June this year. While playing most games temperature would be 45-47C and only in Crysis 3 it goes upto 52C.
My turbo is off, all cores @ 4.2GHz.
I also use the blend test to test memory oc stability.
Also, plz do say; would the Neptwin be better than the 212evo...
NE India hot and humid here.

I checked a bit found three air coolers within my budget:
    *CM Hyper 812
    *Deepcool Lucifer
    and
    *the Deepcool Neptwin
    which one do I get?
And thank you for clearing the doubt on the mobo.

I was talking about the guy with 4.5Ghz @1.45v. But yours doesn't sound right either if P95 only makes it 6c hotter than Crysis 3. Is APM on?

I don't know about the other coolers you'd have to ask someone else sorry. Don't run prime on that board btw it's only got 4 phase vrm.

No APM Master Mode is disabled.

    No problem. Thank you!

    What should I use then?

Anything but Prime. :p 3DMark, HyperPi, Handbrake, Cinebench, POVRay to name a few...

Tbh I don't think it's worth buying a new cooler for an extra 200mhz. Your call though.

also no i dont have turbo enabled as for some reason the cpu always sits at 3.5Ghz, max 3.8 - min 1.4 or around there even though multiplier is set at min 17.5 max 22.5 .. it never in any situation hits 4.5ghz

Hey mate that can happen if APM is turned on, in BIOS make sure APM and Turbo are disabled...Auto is the same as enabled. HPC may need to be enabled as well.

Check for a BIOS update too as I think it was fixed in later BIOS revisions.
