I agree max out your PT 110% at least, 120% if possible and raise your temp limit a bit too :)

Well, back with Nvidia after 8 long years with AMD's cards.

I'm feeling pretty confident that I don't have to bother with compromising on graphical detail for a little while at least, considering I only have 1080p monitors and I don't really need anti-aliasing. :dave:

MSI has 5 GTX970 models. I thought the clocks might have been for a specific model but found they are Gaming Mode clocks for their GTX970 gaming.
I do not understand the logic of referring to Gaming mode clocks when all other specification list the OC mode clocks.

1140MHz Core (Boost Clock:1279MHz) (OC Mode)
1114MHz Core (Boost Clock:1253MHz) (Gaming Mode)
1051MHz Core (Boost Clock:1178MHz) (Silent Mode)

Should I get the Gigabyte G1? What's the consensus on the best models out right now?

My 780 appears to have torched it's VRM phase in Civ V as of yesterday. I enforced a custom fan profile in Afterburner to get temps down. That's it. When the screen exploded into artifacts, it was only running at 73C, 72% fan, and 980Mhz. Essentially stock boost. Basically, I can either run it at bone stock and cry as it throttles down to 863Mhz, or buy something new.

I also can't stand the fan noise and the fact it's always been a poor clocker.

maxwell today for me, first choice would be centered around coil whine, i'd prolly take the overclockers no coil whine guarantee card or the asus mini 970 being released in two days.
980s and 970s are plagued by coil whine.
my preferred shop would be amazon for one as returns are easy there.
    *wrong thread but whatever.

There is some software that comes on the driver cd (forgot what its called) that lets you switch between modes, if you dont install the software it defaults to oc mode anyway so its pretty pointless as the card boosts to around 1350mhz at stock clocks ;)
