you might want to disconnect from the internet while you do this so windows update doesn't reinstall it automatically before you install the drivers

Happened to me also, i just disable driver enforcement at boot.

 

I tried to do that but it doesn't give me the option, just shows my different hard drives to boot from as well as my dvd drive.

 

You need to enter safemode boot options, not just boot options

8.1 you need to reboot from Metro settings > update and recovery,

Win 7 hit F8 a load of times when you power on the machine

Spam F8 again right after you select your boot drive.

 

How do you enter safemode boot options?

I tried hitting F8 but it only brought up the options I said before.

No problems here in either 8.1 or Win 7 64. Kept the Windows update installed too.

That's very odd.

I got it to install by uninstalling the windows update.
