Good news for those who like to customize MSI Afterburner appearance via different skins. With MSI Afterburner v4.0.0 announce we introduced special skin cross-compatibility engine to allow you to use EVGA Precision X (v3 - v4) skins.
Skin cross-compatibility engine will be seriously improved in MSI Afterburner v4.1.0, now cross-compatibility layer also supports oldschool minimalistic skins from legacy EVGA Precision (v1 and v2) and even skins from "in-house" EVGA Precision X 15 and X 16.
New skin cross-compatibility engine is demonstrated in this video:

    Great improvement!

It would be nice to see a new "official" redesigned MSI-AB skin. The code itself has improved tremendously over the years, but old classic skin doesn't "reflect" it aesthetically speaking. Hope MSI boys get their hands to work on it.

    Thanks as always!

    PS: "in-house" lol

    OOh now that's very nice!

When is it out and can you supply the PrecisionX 16 skin as well?
I don't want to install it just to grab the skin.

Afterburner really is just so superior in functionality and stability but I prefer the look of Precision...

    Thanks

I was just asking Unwinder if there is a real problem with the custom fan profile to be applied to my new MSI GTX980. Was wondering if the new hybdrid function for the fan will interfere with is software.

GTX980 gaming fan info vs custom fan profile.

I noticed that afterburner control the first fan vs the fan profile but the second one are under the control of the bios, that mean the use of the hybrid froz system. The second fan stop on low load then start after the temp reach 60c.

yes, MSI 980 gaming is different from 970 gaming as AB controls both fans on 970 but 980 has unique fan .

any way to configure NVENC and QSV encode video in all key frame, which is easier to precisely trim the video.

RTSS has been crashing my 64-bit apps/games like 3DMark, BF4, Watch Dogs, etc. I've been forced to uninstall it and use FRAPS instead. And yes, Origin and Steam overlays are both disabled. Which is why I also tried running 3DMark in 64-bit mode and it also crashes. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Delete RTSS config files too. Better yet delete entire RTSS folder after uninstall. Then reinstall. Could also be afterburner settings files...

Already tried deleting both the Afterburner and RTSS folders after uninstalling. Still doesn't work. 32-bit games/apps, RTSS no probs. 64-bit games/apps, instant crash when the program loads while RTSS is enabled.

EDITED because I just realized by "fix" didn't apply to this situation.

Maybe you have another application running that uses an overlay? Uplay? Teamspeak/Mumble/Ventrilo/Skype?

Unwinder improvements to Nvenc would be nice ;)

OBS is far more advanced in Preset selection and Capture Performance currently also supports VFR mode for .mp4 like Shadowplay itself does.

Use OBS then. NVENC is not a top priority in development now.

Use Shadowplay instead of MSI AB.
