Hi, and thanks for checking out my thread.

I've just reinstalled Windows XP (again) and have installed all the latest drivers for my hardware, including the Via Hyperion 4.49 drivers, and NVidia 45.23 detonators etc etc.

After random periods of usage my mouse starts moving jerkily, either bouncing around the screen furiously or dragging along in slowmotion, or just scrolling and click randomly. This may happen as soon as I log in or after 3 hours...

It starting to get on my nerves as in the end the mouse just freezes up and I have no choice but to reboot to get it to work again.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks again!

This happened right before my IBM hard drive died. Could be a HDD problem.

I checked for virii and exploits but didn't find anything with Norton. I hope it's not my hard drive, although it has been acting up lately... Maybe it's time for a new drive! :/

could simply be the mouse. is it optical by any chance? some mouses just spaz out after awhile. But, I haven't seen scrollers randomly screw

Yeah it's an optical mouse... it's really wierd cause sometimes it only moves on one axis, other times it just bounces around at lightning speeds...
