a knowledgeable person on 3d vision discovered that it's actually a hybrid of both. it's an openGl game that uses DX11 elements.

After forcing myself to get used to the aspect ratio/black bars and the other annoyances, I can honestly say the game itself is good and the atmosphere is quite impressive. I haven't gotten far, but if you can see past the horrible port work there's a decent game underneath.

 

Well, thats seems extremely blurry, can we at least remove this blur ?

 

I'm trying to do something about it but its very hard. This freaking DoF is killing me, it focuses only the center of the screen and only with the object in the foreground, blurring all the rest of the picture. uke2:

Finally, Last Flawless Widescreen update fixed so far:

- Correct Aspect Ratio
- Remove Letterbox
- Maintain Movies at correct Aspect
- Correct black screen overlay
- Correct HUD Aspect
- FOV correction (vert- after removing letterbox)
- Bloom (too bright) corrected.

I agree. It feels like Resident Evil 4 mixed with Alan Wake. Not scarry at all. At least for me.

There seems to be a lot of newbie's in this forum that bash every new game that comes out.

I like the game. Aside from the head bobbing that gives me a headache, the game looks great. I like all the different ways you die too. I tried to sneak past a horde of zombie-like things only to accidentally run into one who then alerted all his friends. They threw me down on a rock and curb-stomped my face in. Excellent!

 

Not a fan of this game, 30fps locked, tried the fixes and can't get them working, daft letterbox bars losing 30% of your screen, laggy with CFX or Single GPU, it looks like it has a lot of potential but can't get past the purposely placed cr4p that ruins it

This game is awesome and old school ... Been missing games like this ;0)

Runs perfeclty smooth at 30 FPS downsampled to 3840 x 2160!

Looks stunning in some areas

 

I should get my boxed copy of the game today but I loved Alan Wake so if this game is like that then I should enjoy it. I did watch a Giant Bomb Quick Look yesterday of the PS4 version and that cinematic aspect ratio certainly looks intrusive as at one point the player was half way up a long ladder and trying to see if an enemy was still below them and those black borders were clearly obstructing the view. Clearly the game designers did not consider that when they created the game.

I know you can adjust the aspect ratio to get smaller or even no borders but the viewpoint is just zoomed in and you actually see LESS of the game that way. I really hope that the developers patch this on PC. I'm all for having a cinematic experience but if it actually hinders your ability to play it be restricting your visibility then I'd rather have the option to disable it for a more traditional fullscreen experience. This game is single player only so it's not like you'd be affecting anyone else's enjoyment of the game by playing fullscreen, and it definitely is not cheating either.
