The cutscenes are prerendered movies so no wonder the framerate feels bad for you in them.

I'm loving it on PC. I'm not sure why the Alien AI got trashed so bad. As we speak I have been hiding in a closet for the last 5 minutes as the Alien has been searching for me quite methodically.

The AI on the androids is stupid though. They tend to not see you until you're right up next to them. But at least you can just run right by them unless they grab you.

    edit: dead. damn it

Really idiotic that there's prerendered videos.

Consoles are known to drop in framerate severely during cutscenes, so they resort to pre-prendered movies, especially since now space isn't an issue due to bluray in Xbone and PS4.

It seems strange that the pre-rendered videos would such a problem for Darren on the PS4 though.

PC gamers running the game at 120fps, fair enough, but if the PS4 version is 30fps then switching to pre-rendered should not be that noticeable, unless the videos are rendered at 24fps to make them cinematic, but to me that is a bad idea even if the game is running at 30.

Picking this up tomorrow, seems like a game even i can run.

Enjoying the game using 344.11 no big drops in fps. Why are people whining about the FMVs being pre-rendered its a video so what if they're pre-rendered this is just whine for whining sake. Some people need to get a life !

If thats Very High quality at 1080p, I should be able to play on lowest settings 720p, no?

Its a bit jarring to go from 3K downsampled 60 FPS to 30 FPS compressed videos with artifacts. Just pointing out the idiocy of this.

Other then that I'm very much enjoying the game. The Alien AI is pretty careful in checking where you last were.

There are quite a few games that does it like that, imo not really a big deal.

The prerendered cut scenes on the pc are jerky (seems to be running in 24 fps and sometimes even less), Character animations look outdated too... lip sync is just awkward.

Besides those things I really enjoyed the 3 hours I played today, really atmospheric,
I rewatched Alien a few days ago... Totally nails the movie vibe.

But really, I'm just happy to get a pc game that runs perfectly with no hitches on day one... Too many games run like **** at launch.

I'm seeing 70 - 80fps in cut scenes not jerky at all.

^^Was looking at some 2k screen with afterburner info in the topleft, it seems that there is perfect sli scaling across four cards which i find to be impressive.

So with that said, it may not be the aliens game everyone was hoping for, but lets take a moment to appreciate the fact that this game runs perfect (bar a few crashes) day 1 and the optimization for such image quality/graphic fidelity while keeping such high fps on even low end gear. Kinda confused as to why the console versions, or at least the ps4, are only 30fps.

Was not expecting that at all.

Interesting the game auto set max settings & my max downsampling reso 3200x1800 :nerd:

btw I thought SMAA 2xT is higher then 1xT?

Also no HBAO+, just AMD specific HDAO? :D

I also do find it kinda funny in the realtime cutscenes where your character is doing something scripted you can see your own legs but when you move about by yourself you are basically a floating camera again.

What? You do see your legs during gameplay, just look down.

    OMG you do.

If you change the FOV slider past 55 your legs disappear lmao.

Also BetA Gedosato only works with directx9 games.

I just added custom resolutions through control panel and it works fine, problem is there's still jaggies at that resolution because its shader aliasing which is hard to get rid of.

They ****ed up the positioning of the settings in options.
SMAA T2x is better obviously, also the "Standard" SSAO is also better than HDAO, see my posts for reference:

    http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4931387&postcount=916
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4931398&postcount=2386

Also managed to set up 4K downsampling after all by setting scaling to GPU instead of Display.
Here's how the game looks at 4K, max details, Standard SSAO, SMAA T2x, film grain and chromatic aberration disabled (since they're ugly), FOV 75.

Yeah I saw that now 2xT has 4% higher gpu usage then 1xT.

But 3200x1800 is too much for gpu, have few places with 50ish fps and vsyncd looks kinda crappy, because of fps choppiness..
    [IMG] [IMG]

@ 2560x1440 np, this is with extra TrAA 2xSS (adds ~ 5% on gpu usage), but there is a lot of shining/specular aliasing..

Is there a working MSAA flag?
