DDR4 isnt as bad as everyone thought, 2666 running C12,10,11,24 at 1.35V with cheap crucial ram :)

    at 1.4V i can run C11, maybe C10

I can't seem to run my cache any higher than 3.5Ghz when running 4.5Ghz core. What voltage you running for 4.2ghz cache?

What did you try so far, auto only?

You might also need higher VCCSA, ie 0.040v+ offset is a good start to eliminate build-in cpu memory controller issues. And higher cpu current can help too in digi+ set to at least 120%.

1.3v get's me a nice 4.5Ghz Cache but only stable for a benchmark or two. Lowered it down to 4.25Ghz which is nice and stable for 24/7 use. Gonna tweak the voltage now.

XTU loves the higher cache speeds.

if necessary and yes thats the first thing I'm doing when I get it
    thanks

I have to wonder if your problems weren't somehow related to this:

    http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=msi_x99_fail&num=1

    http://www.legitreviews.com/intel-x99-motherboard-goes-up-in-smoke-for-reasons-unknown_150008

Maybe no smoke and no fire in your case but that doesn't mean that there isn't some oddity perhaps to do with the on chip voltage regulation. Perhaps its a combination of things having to do with the CPU, motherboard and PSU,...?

Perhaps its something else who knows,..

For what its worth, despite this I've just bought the following parts:

Core i7 5820K (~$310 USD after NJ tax at Microcenter)
Asus X99-A (~$279 USD shipped Newegg)
Crucial 4GB DDR4 2133 (~$50 shipped Newegg) Will add more RAM later after I get out of the testing phase.

All other parts I already have with the exception of a CPU cooler. I was looking at the Noctua NH D-15 LGA2011 but I have some misgivings about it. I don't necessarily want to be hassled with having to remove a fan to get to RAM or worse having to remove the cooler to get to RAM / DIMM slots. Also the space between the top PCIe slot and cooler is really tight. Then I thought maybe something smaller and cheaper would make thing easier so I started looking at the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO and Coolermaster Seidon 120V.

Totally undecided or keep going back between these options. Too bad I can't just bolt my old TheremTake H02 on and be done with it.

Well,Some good news finally .x99-deluxe came in ,installed it
and it seems to work spotless so far ,I ran through a auto overclock and it specked it out
at 4.3 to start off and it's working great so far,no issues
I will play with it for a little while like that till I gather a little knowledge on the new
terms in the bios and how to really optimize this board
    thanks

Personally, and that's just my opinion, I wouldn't go for a smaller heatsink if you oc. If you have little space, you might be good to head for aio h2o. But that's just my personal opinion.

I wouldn't OC with something like the CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO.

I see there's a lot of people having problems with the 5960x
and the RVE .that's alot of money to be spending to have cpu's roasting
without warning,I feel bad for them

And what problems do they have? What happened? Was planning on going for Asus X99 Deluxe, then Vet says there's problems with it. Switched for the R5E, now there's problems there too. Just wanted a board that can handle fans nicely and has wifi :bang:
