Yeah both these are nice cards.

I went for the MSI purely because it was cheaper. Ordered it today.

The Gigabyte has lower load temps according to the G3D reviews and doesnt have those nasty hotspots on the back of the card like the MSI one does (however not sure if the backplate on the Gigabyte just obscured the hot area or whether it actually does anything cooling wise)

How much noise those 2 cards make you have? Idle and load.
I know there is numbers everywhere in internet but just your opinion.

Thought about getting the 980 first, but seems like a better deal to get a 970 now and if i want some more umph sli it later on, support for sli getting better btw? remember it being rather iffy with alot of games.

Have not myself done much OC, my 770 lightning seems to be pretty bad in terms of OC, running this setup gives me 81 degrees celcius in furmark:

Would that be considered stable, isnt the throttle point 80 or so on both the 7 series and the 9 series?

81c is still a very very nice temp, if its getting over 88c i should be worried :)

Okay thanks, then again, furmark is not exactly real life testing, never seen a game that can really stress the gpu, maybe except for arma 3, that game sure is a piece of s.. when it comes to performance :)

I am thinking 5 days, reading a lot on internet, and I dont know what model choose between Gigabyte and MSi.

    Gigabyte GTX 970 WindForce OC
    +Better temps
    +More stock overclock
    +Backplate
    +More conexions

MSI GeForce GTX 970 Twin Frozr V
    +Smaller
    +Stopped fans on iddle

    What do you prefer guys??

My Gigabyte GTX 970s came in today, but I won't be able to install them until tomorrow, and benchmark them until Thursday due to work..

If size isn't an issue for you, then this could be overlooked as a +/- between the cards obviously.

For me, I have more than enough space for the G1, so its a non-starter.

Higher stock OC is nice and overall the G1 has the potential to OC higher at stock voltages.

For Fans on idle, there is no doubt that a bios will become available to flash on the G1s and if you're so bold, you could actually adjust the fan profile to make the card do the same as the MSI can with stopping the fans from spinning during low usage.

For me, after reading practically every review I could find between the MSI Gaming and the G1, IF you have the space, the G1 is better. But I could be biased since I will have two in hand within the next few hours (g1) and managed to get them both for the price of the MSI Gaming. :infinity:

Thanks a lot for your answer dude.
Well, I'm from Spain, and the MSi and the Gigabyte are on 350€ both, so there is no money difference.
Space isn't a problem for me too.

I'll wait for your impressions for the Gigabyte mate, and some photos of the unboxing :p

I had always planned to update the 670 Owners Thread I created with my findings.. so stay tuned for all that. I'll include pictures and my bench scores over the coming days, sli and non sli.

I find myself in the same position. having to decide between MSI and Gigabyte.
My current Giga 660ti is dead silent with it's double 100mm fans (like the ones MSI uses now) and I am curious if the 3x 80mm ones have a different sound profile.
I am mostly interested in the noise under load, waiting for your impressions :D

Not tried the Gigabyte but the TwinFrozr has been getting good reviews in-terms of volume and temps for a while now. It is excellent on my 780ti.

If it wasn't for the Guru3d review of the Giga I would have probably gone straight for the MSI. But that almost 10 C difference is pretty big, considering the noise seems to be on par according to the review.
but I'll wait for some user impressions :)
