The screenshots are from a beta to preview, which was completed on September 9. It was released to close partners of Microsoft on the Microsoft Connect platform available. It should be the last beta, which will be published before the release of a test version. Also the possibility to run on the desktop Modern UI applications in windowed mode, can be seen.

A release of the technical preview of Windows 9 is expected in late September / early October. It keep rumors that the version will be available for everyone - just as in Windows 8.1 . U.S. media reported that Microsoft's presentation of Windows 9 scheduled for September 30 . On this day, the German partner conference starts in Mannheim. The release of Windows 9 is expected for April 2015 .

So then is the start screen in Windows 8 completely replaced by the Start Menu, or can you choose? After playing with it, I like the Start screen versus menu in Windows 8.

That start menu is so ugly... :puke2:

Also the logo and the titlebars need a serious redesign.

Yup, I don't even use those apps. I want documents, music, pictures, downloads, etc links all on the right side

All I want is the choice of the Classic (Windows 7) Start Menu, and not have to use those kindergarten tiles.

You can run Windows 9 x64 with 1 GB RAM, according to the sixth picture.

You can do that on Windows 8.1 as well, they lowered the specs when .1 came out.

    New video showing multi-desktops

And live tiles can be removed/disabled from Start menu (Hopefully libraries can be pinned in their place)

Not really sure we need this on a desktop, Ive never said to myself, "you know what Windows needs?, a notification centre"

Even Android removed that lower right notification popup for a better upper dropdown solution ages ago

The start menu for the most part still looks similar to vista/7. I dont like that fact that on desktops normally there is a lot of screen real estate but they still want to users to 'scroll' through 'All Programs' menu using a scroll bar. I still think WinXP had the best start menu ever. We need something similar.

Also, we still need following options:

    1. Aero or something similar
    2. Option to revert back to classic Win95/98 theme (which was removed in 7).
    3. Desktop Gadgets or something similar

Aero as in the theme from win 7? Because DWM is still there in Win 8, in fact, the OS needs it to run properly and cannot be turned off like in win 7.
Classic theme exist in win 7. It was removed in win 8.
And that gadgets platform died a long time ago. Use something like rainmeter.

I still prefer the Win 7 style start menu with the right panel not full of those horrible, mostly useless "Apps". I never use any of them. Only the eBay app is really any good. I guess I'll be sticking with Classic Shell but that depends on whether Win 9 will be free for 8 and 8.1 users. If it's not, I won't even have 9.
