I have a 2400k at 4.5 will upgrading to a newer cpu be worth it for sli? I play at 5760x1080 If so what i7 would be worth it? I want to stay under $400 for cpu if possible. Yes I know I will need a new mb
Only If you have the cash. If you don't, save for Broadwell. Will you see gains? Definitely. Games with SLI will keep a higher minimum FPS on a better cpu like 4770K/4790K or the i5 counterparts. If you play at resolutions past 1080p, you will see gains with SLI. The Beefier the CPU the better for SLI.
Your 2600k at 4.5 is fine, in fact I run my 2600k at 4.5 in the summer. http://www.ocaholic.ch/modules/smartsection/item.php?page=0&itemid=1185 I`ll see if I can find higher than 1080 resolutions with another bench.
