  1. hey guys i'm looking at the idea of a video capture card for my system...never owned one before so I figured hey, why not.

So what i'm seeing is pretty much all of the capture cards are only HDMI..normally this wouldn't be a problem but the qnix 2710 being DL DVI only, and also the fact that I need to hack my AMD drivers to unlock my monitor...im wondering if it is even possible to use a capture card in conjunction with the qnix + amd graphics card(s).

Has anyone got a capture card with this monitor and amd gpu? which one do you have?...

I may be wrong and worrying about nothing, but thought i'd post here and ask the peeps with similar setups.

I just installed a Hackintosh partition to mess around. Trying to see if there's a way to OC this thing there. Most people trying seem to get stuck at 86hz.

Anyone know if the Qnix QX2710 can do downsampling tried it in the Nvidia control panel and every time i try 3840x2160 60hz its fails instantly as soon as i click ok and it tests.

Can you show us a screenshot? NvCP should allow you to render at a higher resolution and then downsample, all at the GPU side, and the monitor would still receive a signal at the native resolution (2560x1440).

Woohoo! Got my QX2710 today at my office :)

Quickly took it out and tested it to check for dead pixels and BLB.

Fortunately, there is virtually no bleed on mine, which is nice. However, wasn't as lucky with the pixels.. there are two spots, one is tiny and is barely noticable off center to the bottom right. On the very bottom corner almost at the bottom and an inch from the right edge, there is a comma sized black blemish.. fortunately its right at the bottom, and the rest of the screen is practically perfect.

I can definitely live with that! I didn't get a chance to OC it yet, but once I get it all nice and mounted tonight testing will commence. Very stoked, its a pretty sweet monitor.

Yes indeed! Impressed by what I've seen so far. What does suck is that import charges were almost $40.. all the more reason I'm relieved I won't need to return this one :)

EDIT: So I have it installed now and its friggin beautiful. Haven't opened a game but got it mounted to my desk using an arm and its money.

Question though.. when I open Color Sustainer, I find that its not detecting the monitor @ 96hz. It just shows 59 and 60.. I have taken a look around but didn't notice anyone mentioning this.. am I missing something?

Color Sustainer does not seem to be detecting custom resolutions defined by the Nvidia Control Panel (CRU works though). Might be an SLi-only issue too, not sure. I would appreciate it if you would run this mini-tool and post the output.

I had trouble figuring out CRU but I got it now.
Color sustainer does now recognize the new resolutions.

One other thing I did was try a ton of ICC, and honestly I find that running the default seems to look the best to me. Just tap a couple of Brightness notches up, and its the best out of any I've tried. Was surprised by that actually..

If you're using no color profile at 96Hz, that is because the rather high gamma at 96Hz will give a more vibrant, saturated look to the image. However, the displayed image is off and you will notice that dark areas are now less visible due to the raised gamma, just as bright areas become less visible the lower gamma is.

If you're talking about 60Hz, then these monitors tend to be pretty accurate out-of-the-box and available profiles might be made for monitors that have less / more / different error than your monitor, so they might look worse.

    Tried my profiles?

    Lots of profiles here.
    http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/icc_profiles.htm

I find the Yamakasi Catleap one works great for me (Overlord Tempest) with a little tweaking of Contrast, brightness, Vibrancy etc from Nvidia control panel.

Try some of these out Scooby, there are lots to chose from.

I did, yes.. however I am picky with two things... I prefer a cooler looking white balance, so I found them a bit too yellow (warm) for my liking. I also like to bump up vibrance/saturation and turn gamma down, so overall I find that out of the box its good as is with a bit of tinkering in the NVCP.

I had tried a ton of these actually.. the best one surprisingly that I found was for the Asus ROG 28". That one provided a nice balance overall, and yet when I set it back to default, this still looks the best to me.. Maybe I'm just weird haha

Could either of you suggest what I should do to shoot for 120hz? I try to hit that but the pixel clock goes up too high. I had briefly read about adjusting the latency to bring the clock down to a reasonable level for the Qnix' PCB but not sure what those settings would be.

I also plan on getting a better DVI cable as the one I'm using is the one that came with the monitor. I tried one that I borrowed from work but that one gave a weird output (lines) on the screen.

Currently I can hit 110, but I get one sinle line up at the top of the screen that blinks every couple seconds. 100 is perfectly fine.

Do you run 100hz in desktop too btw? If so, any image retention?
