It does indeed look better, but the drop in GPU usage is unacceptable.

Which I already stated in my original Witcher 2 AO post ;)
And as MrBonk and I already said many times, please always include some kind of OSD with FPS and GPU usage in HBAO+ comparison screenshots.

My bad for not following protocol.

I do not at all get the drop in GPU Utilization. Stays at 100% throughout w/ Tri-SLI. Runs only a little worse than the ingame SSAO whilst being more accurate.

Here: Screenshots with GPU Utilization and framerate.

    No AO:

    Interesting :)
Did you also test in outdoor scenes in Witcher 2?
    And with driver-downsampling?
Sometimes an AO flag can work great indoors, but cause slowdowns and/or flicker on and off outdoors.

Btw, I found very nice HBAO+ flag "0x00000030" for Mirror's Edge.
The official flag "0x00000002" also works quite well, but only applies a very subtle effect outdoors.

Here is my full report for reference purposes:

OK, I'm now going to do one of my "update posts".
A lot of interesting stuff has been going on lately in the HBAO+ thread, and I think it is important to recap at this point.

Here are the changes, that are absolutely "safe" to add to the OP:

    1) For Risen 3, I think aufkrawall2's post on SSAOQuality="4" should be added as a reference: http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4893262&postcount=2269

I'm not entirely sure how this should be done?
Maybe it is best to remove "0x00000009" completely from the HBAO+ list for Risen 3 for the time being, and instead add R3 to the "not recommended" list with aufkrawall2's post as reference?

    2) "0x00000019" (strong) and "0x00000009" (subtle) should be added for Risen 2: http://www.forum-3dcenter.org/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=10178666&postcount=75
    3) "0x00000005" should be added for Call of Duty 2: http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4895494&postcount=756
    4) "0x00000028" should be added for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare: http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4895537&postcount=757
    5) "0x00000030" (strong) and "0x00000002" (subtle) should be added for Mirror's Edge: http://www.forum-3dcenter.org/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=10320690&postcount=93

Personally I think everything else posted recently needs more extensive testing, before we add it.
Let's remember guys, it is about quality and not quantity here :)

Works indoors and outdoors, no flickering, no drops in utilization from area to area (ran all over and around Flotsam and the Arena) and with Driver Downsampling.

Does not work with GeDoSaTo, SGSSAA, or Übersampling.

FYI, the 2F flag is much better for 'ARCANIA - GOTHIC 4' than the recommended 26 flag.

The 26 flag is too dark, makes for 'dark blobs'. The 2F flag is better balanced visually, AND my GPU usage is reduced by about 20%! :O

    Starcraft II flag

Here a comparison among SSAO in game and flag 27. This flag has almost not effect in cinematics, however, there is a tax of 5fps. SSAO On (just darkened the scene) in game has the strongest impact and effect with a tax of about 20fps. During gameplay flag 27 has more tax to pay with a drop of about 20fps. In my opinion better IQ in gameplay than SSAO built in game.

    Sounds good.
Then please make both indoor and outdoor screenshot comparisons with "0x00000033" in Witcher 2, so we have a proper reference with "proof" for the list :)
And of course remember to include both GPU usage and FPS in all screens.

Something new for the list! Will post in the AA thread as well..

    BULLY - SCHOLARSHIP EDITION
    SGSSAA - 0x000010C1
    HBAO+ - 0x00000003

The images below also have forced 8x anisotropic filtering; nVidia Inspector really works wonders for this game!

    NO AO and NO AA:

    HBAO+ and 4x SGSSAA:

Have found no issues so far!

Thanks for the post! I've never played it before but I just picked it up on sale. I've heard great things about it.

One thing I noticed is HBAO+ doesn't work unless I have my resolution set to 1920x1080. Setting it to anything higher has no effect plus it resets my resolution to 800x600 whenever I restart.

Sorry haven't been updating. I was out of state for 4 days and then I have work.

Rest assured, I am reading and will parse through it all here soon.

Need a proper post please! I appreciate the effort, but in order to maintain accuracy and consistency we need, Comparison screens with an OSD like Afterburner showing VRAM Usage,Framerate,GPU Usage, etc.

    And not a requirement,

I do ask that everyone try to attempt using some proper formatting to make posts easier to parse when reporting flags for games. It makes my job a lot easier.

It doesn't have to be the exact format in the OP.

But something that clearly separates game title, screenshots, and any useful information with necessary bolded parts.

Thank you very much for this! I am glad someone read my comment in the OP for this. Greatly appreciated!

Also: I can see that HBAO+ is indeed working in cutscenes. It just isn't detecting things right, so it ends up being super subtle and hard to see.
