Alright, fair enough man, and yeah, it's a great game, although I prefer RPGs with more open world, it dosn't have to be Elder Scrolls scale freedom, but newer BioWare games have too linear/little locations, they still awesome games though.

I been playing some Max Payne 1 also, still a classic, gameplay, the story etc.
Has a nice Urban Dark feel to it.

Plus it can be patched to support Direct3D (and Glide) with the Gold Upgrade.

Interstate 76 and the original Driver were the driving games back then...

Unreal and Max Payne already mentioned and a lot of other excellent games.
    Have nothing to add really.

It's not that expensive to find yourself a Win98SE capable computer and play the games on the hardware that was current at the time of their release. This gives you more hardware and config options than DosBox in my opinion. I have most of the games listed in this thread back to around 1995. I also have a MAME setup for arcades that plays games *SPAM* back to the late 70's early 80's (not remakes). It's interesting to see how the gaming experience and the hardware have in many ways become inverted over time. Games used to be fairly complex while the hardware was primitive. Now the hardware is sophisticated and the games are getting really dumbed down.
