Your question same like mine,in my thread replace gtx 460. I use monitor 1600x1200.They suggested me to stay in gtx 460 or go to 750Ti untill gtx 8xx come out. But i go to gtx 770,because i can get good price. And i think gtx 770 can handle games about 3-5 years later.
What games do you currently play or do you want to aim for? I'd say wait untill the 8xx series because they are just a couple months away and I don't think you'll be dissapointed with these. The 7xx's series are really good also, but if you want the newest set and the best experience, I would say wait for it. Patience is the key.
in your case I would just get a second hand 750ti since they cost nothing. when the next gen is out u can consider another upgrade and sell ur 750ti for almost the same price as u got it btw. anyone know if gtx 760ti is coming out? I actually want to buy a 760 but if 760ti comes out next week I will feel bad.
I would consider amd on the budget buys usually get more for your money. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8911158&Sku=RLH-102337934
Probably next x50 or 850 will be out only next year as far I know all x50 are the last to be released!
The issue with waiting is you can almost set yourself to wait indefinitely unless you plan to actually get ahead at some point...GPU development is constantly turning out something better. Some of it depends on what you're playing too; RTS games & LoL rarely need or take advantage of groundbreaking hardware. If you're sticking with the x50 series, naturally the 850 should be better.
GTX 880 next month, it might beat 780ti by a few percents, or might be in between 780 to ti. but maxwell should be far more efficient and might have higher oc rate, though 256bit bus will limit it performance a bit, but it have large L3 cache... Just wait at least till September.
Next month maybe the announcement. Shelf availability is another story, especially custom cards (with OC and coolers). I can't see 8 series in stores till November or even later maybe.
yeah but it will help him to decide what to buy, if the GTX880 is better than 780 or ti by good amount, with or without overclock, then it would make sense to wait ever more. If not, then he can buy 780 with ease.
It won't be. It might beat the 780ti by a little, but the card will easily be $649. Then you will see the 780 ti at $579.
Gaming at that res you can get away with the 750ti it's a great lil card. But if you get hi detailed games that aren't ever optimised well you'd be smart to wait because it's only a month away and then you can see how good the sales will be on the 700 series
