I ain't even started it yet, as been waiting for the patches, will give it a go once i get LL finished off.
Well it has been much Dx10 optimized, as just been having a run about on it doing some testing, and where before, i had to have the Vision Distance Slider one up from the bottom, or my performance would be crippling (were talking frames in the teens on the settings im using), ive now got it maxed, and my minimums above 40, which isn't to bad, considering my settings are pretty high, which are :- All sliders maxed (apart from the grass density, i only have that 16 up, as don't like it to grassy) Shadow Map Maxed, Sun Shadows On, Grass Shadows Off (as they kill performance, although not tried them on with the new patch yet, but will give it a go), Motion Blur On, Steep Parallax On, Dynamic Wet Surfaces On, Use Dx10.1 On, MSAA For Objects Dx10.1, AA Off, V-sync On, 60hz Off (as im running 144hz), Sun Rays High, Ambient Occlusion HDAO (as AMD card), SSAO High, Soft Water On, Soft Particles On, DOF On, NPC Flash On. Might try ramping everything to the max, and seeing how much of a diff it makes from what im getting now.
Not bad, SSAO must be a bit of a hit, as when i whacked that to Ultra, and turned on the Grass Shadows, i was dropping into the high 20s, so i dropped the Vision Distance down by 5, and that got me back to what i was getting before, around the 40fps minimum, which it hardly goes to tbh, seems to be mostly over 50fps. That was during the day with the sun blazing, so it is much improved. Just got to get LL finished off now, then i can make a start
Not to sure on the gameplay, as not done much on it yet, but it looks great, also got the vanilla on with the Complete Mod, and this one looks miles better.
I'm playing it like mad since second patch goes out. I simply cannot stop myself. As an older STALKER fan this game is something like a cup of water for a thirsty man in desert. I'm enjoying every moment of it.
Turn sun shadows off and you could probably scale everything back up again as I found that to have the biggest performance hit. Still, you might like them on however.
Yeah, turned off grass shadows and fps went back to 50's. With ON it goes low as 20-25. Anyone notice that night time have alot higher fps? Daytime cut fps in half. Enjoying the game, remembering my first playthrough long/long time ago.
Some aspects are better, others are worse. Though the "worse" is probably due to the mod being still to young. The main downside is that some maps are somewhat devoid of life (mainly the new levels). On the plus side I do think the main levels that were already in the Original stalker are somewhat more interesting. Garbage looks alot better. If they can make A-Life more interesting and add more NPC interacting, combat and versatility to the game then I would say this mod is an improvement over the original. But at this point it's more of an interesting mod to play through as a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. veteran imo.
Some shots I took a few months ago (maybe the graphics have gotten better since then either way I was using the dx9 renderer) : http://abload.de/img/xr_3da.exe_dx9_201405p2kv9.jpg http://abload.de/img/xr_3da.exe_dx9_201405rbfbl.jpg http://abload.de/img/xr_3da.exe_dx9_201405i9ina.jpg http://abload.de/img/xr_3da.exe_dx9_201405saflx.jpg Really basic shots but the vegetation in this game is really nice done
4x quick ones. Yeah i could, was hitting 144fps (v-sync'd), but it looks much better with them on though tbh.
