Sat here playing Half Life on this: 700Mhz AMD Duron 768Mb PC100 Ram ATI 9200SE 128MB (Got a Geforce 2 MX 400 32MB as well) A massive 40 ish FPS in software mode. Will have to try it in D3D and OGL. So what other old/retro games can I play on this thing? Its running windows XP at the moment. Steam wont work for some reason. Client Bootstrap crash on open
RPGs like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, also Soldier of Fortune, System Shock 2 and old Tomb Raider games. Just to name few. EDIT. Forgot about Thief, definitely Thief, especially second one.
wing commander £3.99 https://www.origin.com/en-gb/store/...-tiger/pc-download/base-game/standard-edition Minimum system requirements: • Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7 • 1.8 GHz Processor • 512MB RAM (1 GB recommended) • 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 7 (compatible with DirectX 9 recommended) • 2GB HDD • Mouse • Keyboard
Go back to the classics. Heretic, Hexen, Blood, Shadow Warrior, Redneck Rampage... Strife. Hexen 2, Quake, Quake 2... I've always got a lot of older titles installed. Just in case I feel like some nostalgia.
1.8Ghz eh.. Well i got the 800Mhz covered if I OC the Duron.. Witch will run at 805Mhz I think it was.
Thief 1 - 2 Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption Gothic 1 - 2 Planescape: Torment Dungeon Keeper 2 System Shock 2 Total Annihilation / Kingdoms Alpha Centauri Theme Hospital / Park Rollercoaster Tycoon Clive Barker's Undying (Fantastic game) Kingpin Life of Crime Gabriel Knight series Knights of the Old Republic Alone in the Dark Beneath a Steel Sky (Free on GOG) There's tons of great titles that would run on that system. It was a fantastic era for gaming tbh.
It was a great game, released in 2003. Should just about run on that old system. I remember a friend of mine running it on a 1.2ghz Duron with a ti4200 with decent speeds, so I'm guessing that will scrape along with a little OC'ing.
Yeah, it's still a great game, but I remember having problems playing it on Athlon XP 1700+, so I would not be so sure. Acording to System Requirements Lab it requires 1 GHz and 1.6 GHz recommended: http://www.systemrequirementslab.co...r-wars-knights-of-the-old-republic/10311/?p=r I would target games from 2000/2001 max, maybe some from 2002 with that CPU.
Hmm. I'd still say it's worth a shot, even if it doesn't run on the old rig it's still worth a play through on his modern setup.
Just thought, I should dig out star trek armada 1 and 2 as well as the starfleet command games and elite force xD
