maybe here I nailed it better.. its only showing how colors alone make it different:

the lights at night can look more yellowish if the street lamps are older(in rl) tekniq, i think a combination of those two modes would be better. alone they seem too extreme.

i know it is physically a black body if its a tungsten lamp or stuff like that (no halogen) - but Its much too much yellow. I am not on a cheap TN panel though. I have a better color true IPS Monitor..

at least when I go out at night its not yellow everywhere I look. in fact its less colorful anyway. lamps might be yellow but obejcts are not reflecting yellow so much.

I'll see what I can do about the night lighting.

I understand. I think you can leave it for now and return to it when you are about to complete the 1.0 mod. Maybe you will know which file to edit after some work. The shadows really helps improve the game graphics a lot.:)

well, from a google search seems like chicago has more yellow lights than modern european towns that have those cold white economical lamps, i think it all depends on how you are used to see your town at night in reality.

Yeah about the colors of the lighting at night is something I can't do right now, maybe later.

that might be true so. I also found many artistic pics of chicago. but cant be sure that the yellow is not a photographic effect.. If its a bit toned down I wouldnt mind though. I dont think that yellow tint is how it looks really.

yes, i noticed that the yellow is too extreme in the game, at least for some areas, it makes the game look too cartoonish. maybe someone can tone it a little down closer to a neutral look.

Have you ever been to Chicago? I have quite a few times and the city lighting is far more yellow than NYC, Boston, LA, or SF. All the corruption probably drained their fund for modernizing the city lighting.

yeah, said that a few posts up, looks like the city has those old yellow lamps that are actually more expensive to run than the new white lights.

"I'm re tweaking the shadows, now you'll se that they look bad at start because I need to change the bias. The colors have been changed so now the modern cars have a blue-ish headlight color and the older ones have that orange-ish one."

this could have contributed to the extreme yellow before, gotta try the new settings if theworse updates it.

Finally got Watch Dogs working again. Had to copy over the patch files from a link in this thread, then let uPlay download the last 1% (???) then copy over the 0.7+patch files. Never had so much trouble with uPlay before!

I played a Criminal Escort night mission and it looks stunning with the mod. The explosions look incredile. The lighting loooks good, although I found there's a bit too much glare from multiple light sources (particuarly under bridges & tunnels) but I can put up with that.

I completely agree with you here. But Chicago at night is a mix of both really.

    search Chicago Streets at Night

see his (#4527) and (#4546) posts, looks to me that he improves the mod and not just "tweaks" it just to do something.
if the lazy ubisoft devs made more color presets that a real next gen game should have, we could say there is no need to change anything.
