I've got some weird problem after upgrading my video card I've been trying to resolve for weeks. Previous Config: M/B P6T Deluxe V2 PCIEX4_1: Anker USB3.0 card PCIEX16_1: Radeon 6950 2GB PCI1 & PCI2: nothing PCIEX16_2: Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD PCIEX16_3: Intel Gigabit CT card Everything worked fine for years, until I replaced the video card with XFX 290 4GB. After that I've been getting numerous BSODs with A000001 bugcheck in the video card driver in games (Diablo3 and few others) or just watching movies with VLC. When BSOD happens usually it was with some sound bit looping. This morning my Win7 had an issue starting up - took more than 5 minutes to get to the login screen and after login it was all messed up with a bunch of failed services, including creative audio. Tried to reboot multiple times, but no luck. Eventually I had to pull out the sound card out and after that Win7 booted normally. What the heck is going on? Is X-Fi somehow okay with PCIE2.0 card in x16 slot and not okay with PCIE3.0 card?
Have you installed audio drivers from video card drivers bundle when you updated to XFX290? Have you switched video device to Standard VGA before switching to XFX 290, and have you uninstalled AMD video card drivers after that? Which OS? Win7?
Windows 7 x64. Completely removed AMD drivers (multiple times), tried different versions (13.12, 14.3, 14.4). Only installing Catalyst Control Center and the video driver from the video driver package. No HDMI audio or other nonsense.
Not very informative... Have you tried to swap network and audio cards? Edit: Another thought - are you sure PSU is capable to supply all devices at PCI-E bus?
Yeah, not very informative, but that's all there is in the event logs. My PSU is 750W, that's more than enough to power everything I have installed in this PC. I've replaced X-Fi card with Xonar DX from another computer, same slot, no other changes, and so far it works. Need to test more extensively. Bah, spoke too soon. Another BSOD.
This is device level. So something is wrong in device driver of video card. Edit: I went to google search and instantly found exactly same BSOD in Diablo 3... Edit2: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=363233 Edit3: And many recommendations to try previous AMD drivers. Edit4: Also you can check in Device manager whether PCI devices share IRQs, or have intersected memory and I/O ranges.
Yes, I saw that thread, but it was of no use. The sys file in the windows folder is exactly the same as in the driver installer (did a binary compare). As I said, tried previous drivers, tried a different memory kit, tried without overclocking, etc. I'm at loss now.
Full re-assembling. Reinstallation of Windows. Upgrade of motherboard. Change to USB audio card. Btw, what did you attach to USB3 card? Edit: In case you have not tried to remove USB and newtwork cards you can`t say that you`ve tried everything. It can be that power at PCI-E bus is insufficient for all PCI cards (and that is fault of motherboard and not PSU).
