Need help from someone who is familiar with hacking amd's inf files to add entries for unsupported videocards.

What I'm trying to do is install 13.12 whql with 295x2 cards. Since the 13.12 came out way before the 295, it wont recognize the card.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated.

you need to add that line "%AMD67B9.1%" = ati2mtag_Hawaii, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_67B9&SUBSYS_04841043 to the inf file in the WB6A_INF folder find the file you will mod as the C7 file for wind7 and vista and C8 file for 8 and CU for 8.1 systems then backup the file and find that line "%AMD67B1.2%" = ati2mtag_Hawaii, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_67B1 and put the first line under it and search for AMD67B1.2 = "AMD Radeon R9 200 Series" and under it put that line AMD67B9.1 = "ASUS R9 295X2 Series"

    save and try :)

one more thing you will need to disable driver signature enforcement before install the driver as it become modded and lost it's signature

Thanks! Added the entries, but the drivers still don't recognize the card. I tried transplanting whole sections of the inf file from 14.4 as well. Still doesnt work. Probably no way to get it done.

edit - nevermind. got them installed. I kept trying to use the driver's setup utility to install them and it didnt see the cards. Installing the drivers manually through control panel worked.

    Thanks again!

This is how I was able to install 13.12 for my 295x2 under windows 8.1.

    1. I downloaded this tool - digitalflem. mydiscussion. net

    2. I used the tool while having 14.4 drivers installed on my system and pointed the tool to a folder with extracted 13.12 drivers. (Without this step, installing modded 13.12 windows would tell me that the driver is not intended for my version of windows)

    3. Add "%AMD67B1.2%" = ati2mtag_Hawaii, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_67B1 - and - AMD67B9.1 = "ASUS R9 295X2 Series" entries into my CU inf file.

    4. Use ddu to clean uninstall 14.4 drivers.

    5. Disable driver signature enforcement.

    6. Install the modded 13.12 drivers from the device manager by selecting "have disk" and pointing it to the modded driver directory and selecting the "asus 295x2" from the list.

    7. Install the CCC from the driver directory manually.

Overall the drivers installed and worked pretty well. The snag that I hit is the 2d/3d clocks are broken. The card doesnt downclock while on desktop and the 3d clocks are a quarter of what they are supposed to be. My 3d clocks were reported as 798mhz, while the stock is 1018mhz. There was also no way to adjust the clocks properly.

The reason I'm going through all of this is I have 2, 295x2 cards in crossfire and all of driver past 13.12 are utterly broken for eyefinity + crossfire. Having used 13.12 in quadcrossfire with 290's and eyefinity without issues previously.

Install them thru device manager by telling it that you want to install it using the .inf, point the .inf and then pick another card, even if it is says that is not compatible, tell it to ****ing force the installation and voilá.
