Wake me up when 120/144Hz comes in 4K at 50" for under $1,000 with Pioneer quality blacks & color, otherwise zero interest.
You might want to go back to sleep after that, considering there might not be powerful enough GPU setup to drive 4k @ 120Hz/144Hz+.
I'd be fine with 75Hz 23-24" 4K VA/IPS/PLS display but there is no way that I would ever buy a TN panel again.
IPS is great for color accuracy, but, unless you only play turn-based games, good luck with the response times!
Not ALL IPS panel tv response times are slow. They continue to improve though most current ones are slower than other panels. Game mode on my IPS panel doesn't harm my response time too badly...
And as ASUS stated they are not making them due to price very few enthusiast would be willing to pay. - - - I believe with G/Freesync 60Hz input would be OK. And I am not afraid to say that today's GPUs are capable to drive 4k in CFX/SLi just fine.
Dunno, that depends on the game. Metro @ max settings only runs at 36fps with 2 Titans. BF4 is the same thing. Crysis 3, 26. I mean I don't know what you like gaming at but for me I want at least 60+fps for non competitive titles and 140+ for competitive ones. It's going to be at least 2 generations till i'm willing to game on a 4K monitor, unless there is some kind of breakthrough, obviously.
I think you overestimate what it takes to run 4k well. Remember no AA or very little is needed at that res. There is also the fact that @ 120/144hz even lower fps like 50-60 is greatly benefited vs 60hz.
