Download Windows 8.1 update 1 with a simple registry tweak

Right, then I dl'ed something completely different lol, was a early leak for sure like mentioned by someone else, that rar'ed file contained only 2 files..

This is the order of the 4 main ones you need to follow, the other 2 are optional something or others, not needed to update to update 1 anyway

Ok now its fine

I think my main problem was missing 4 extra updates,. I installed all 6, was to lazy to reboot and installed all in one go, except no1.

And 2nd I had disabled Skydrive, now before updating I enabled it again and it finally renamed to Onedrive.

Yea missing 4/6 updates was likely a big part of the problem lol

 

I really like new metro app/desktop interaction, that poweroff/search button looks handy too and yeah it feels a little snappier

Are you able to show the taskbar inside of any Metro app by moving your mouse to the bottom of the screen ?

Sure it wasn't working originally for me, but seems to be now, maybe just never noticed it

 

yes this is new and its very handy now - metro/desktop interaction , before you had to go to left corner or grab above at the screen and pull it down to close it..

 

For anyone not using metro or any part of it, is there any point in this update? Any other system improvements added or fixed in the update?

but does anybody know if apps like netflix still have audio when its in window mode and using other desktop program at the same time? same as it does with stardock modernmix

 

Metro apps don't have Windowed mode, just a dropdown title bar, they are still fullscreen

 

Yep desktop is a lot snappier, whole metro/normal app minimizing/maximizing feels more fluid and faster.

Also did a few benchmarks and it seems its a little faster too, cpu bound game benchmarks.


Idk about netflix, but I could use metro app flash sound if I used half or 1/3 of the screen
