Is there any chance to customize the graphics settings from a config file or something? I'd really like to turn off motion blur for example. Hate those effects in almost every game.

I managed to achieve enough moral points for a good ending...

Metro 2033 was really like a nightmare roller-coaster, the atmosphere was so oppressive I just can't bring myself to play through it a second time but I thoroughly appreciate the work that went into creating that experience, technical flaws aside. Haven't gotten very far into the second one yet.

I never bothered buying any other weapons or anything, i just gone through it with the Shottie once i got that, as always go through FPS games with a Shottie when i get one, just love the BOOM!, BOOM!, BOOM!, and splattering them to bits all over the shop :D

Ive only done 14 achievements as well. :p

Nearly there now, onto the 'Top' part of the Chapter, where you come out of the broken lift and have to make yer way up, while getting attacked by them flying gits! :D

I too finished 2033 recently and just started with LL.

Really a solid game all around. Guess I didn't get enough moral points to have an option for the missile strike. Need a second playthrough then, I didn't even know about moral points in 2033! What do you need to do btw to gain them? Give bullets to poor people? Avoid killing anyone?

LL runs a hell of a lot better than 2033 with max settings. But, I must say, given the oppressive underdog atmosphere of 2033, LL seems a lot, how should I say, "toned down". Not liking it really that much vs. 2033.

Yet the smoother experience and more hands-on approach make for a more accessible game, but they also change the setting.

Sure, Artyom is a ranger now so in a way it's in keeping with the story to make the play more straightforward.

The ability to knock out your enemies is a welcome addition, but seems a bit too easy / overpowered at times. Also, the massive amount of bullets available is different from 2033, making resource managing less of an essential task. Again, being a ranger means having access to a lot of stuff, but still... dunno. Mixed emotions about some design decisions.

About the performance of 2033, it's indeed the advanced DoF and VERY HIGH settings which kill performance, especially the VERY HIGH settings.

I had a stable 60fpsish run in 1080p with HIGH, Tessellation and DoF on, AAA antialiasing (using FXAA instead) and AF 16x.

Also, both Metro games are nvidia optimized so that may make a difference.

Einstein does not post on Guru3D as far as I'm aware.
I just don't think quoting very old posts allows the forum to flow.

But that's only my opinion after all.

I doubt he would find anything of interest in the gaming world. After all games dont change their mass just because you're playing them faster. xD

Was surprised at how much my gpu gained from the overclock in this game. I am replaying it on this new setup with my new monitor. Quite happy :)

That's not surprising as Metro 2033 is extremely GPU bound.
