Also getting very high occasional CPU spikes in BF4 with Mantle enabled which cause the FPS to drop significantly. No such spikes when using DX11.

I removed all mentions of DX11, as well as other custom variables (except MaxVariableFps, DrawFps etc) created by BF4 Settings Editor from user.cfg now to see if there may be conflicts causing this problem but won't be able to test this theory until tomorrow evening.

Seems like most people are getting spikes, me too. Hope for some quick fix, but its not a big deal since it only give me 4 - 5 fps more..

    Re - BF4 issues

    From the release notes:

    Known Issues

Mantle performance for the AMD Radeon™ HD 7000/HD 8000 Series GPUs and AMD Radeon™ R9 280X and R9 270X GPUs will be optimized for BattleField 4™ in future AMD Catalyst™ releases. These products will see limited gains in BattleField 4™ and AMD is currently investigating optimizations for them.

    So... next time maybe.

Using the extreme settings of the first test in Star Swarm with CF disabled I get the following results:

    Direct3D: 35.97 FPS (12950 frames).
    Mantle: 53.37 FPS (19286 frames).

That's an increase of 48.93 percent. That's far better than I expected.

This driver still has the cracking sound with crossfire 290x.

It is been a couple of drivers now, this is just bs.

don't know if AMD hates me or doesn't want me to download the 14.1, the speed is awfully slow, i don't know which one is faster, snail or downloading from AMD.

@Asder : could you tell hillbert to upload the file to guru3d ?
because the guru3d link only redirect to AMD site, and AMD site doesn't support resume, ever since AMD doesn't allow hotlinking.

haven't been able to download the driver at all, because of this.

oh and the Mega link, is useless for me, i never been able to download from MEGA, it often stopped at random percent, and i rarely able to download anything from MEGA.

If you have Firefox installed, you can use the Mega add-on Extension which allows for a much better downloading experience.

You can download from my Dropbox account:

thanks for the offer, i am using firefox (latest), and already have MEGA addon installed, but it still often random stop, last time i tried, it stopped at 40%, 42%, 80%, and etc.

of course i clean everything with ccleaner before trying to download from MEGA again, but maybe my ISP doesn't like MEGA or something like that.

i also tried to download using google chrome, but somehow its even worse than with firefox.

If your having the option crash try disabling your integrated graphics in the device manager. Fixed it for me.

For those having the same problem I was where the Star Swarm benchmark would crash upon clicking the mantle option and BF4 trying to open the options menu try this as it worked for me:

If you have a second gpu enabled like I had with a intel hd 4000 disable it in windows and both should now work to allow to select/run mantle.

Edit: Looks like tweb321 posted the same fix two mins before me. :)
