Hello everyone, I recently changed my old GTX 560 1gb for a r9 280x which runs good on bf4. With the 560 I was handling medium setting with no AA or post on the same game. I gave the 560 to a friend and he has some serious issues with it. The gpu load has huge spikes downwards with the same setting as mine. His system is a i7 2600k with the same 8gb as mine and a 500 watt psu. I've done the core parking thing, reinstalled windows completely, connected my PSU to his system and it keeps happening... anyone any clue? thanks!
what driver were you using? Try 331.65, with ddu cleaning tool to install. I have low cpu, but this is the most stable driver as i seen for bf4.
What about hard drive? Do you have separate HDD for OS and for game, or maybe even SSD? Spike drops are likely waits for resources. Can he try to disable HT on that i7?
now that you say that, I don't know if his Hd is a 5400 rpm or 7200rpm.... Tried to disable HT, turbo core etc, no changes. Will look into the HD thing Thanks!
Try the 331.93 beta's as they fixed some issues in BF4 with 460 & 560 cards. I'm guessing this fix is also included with the latest WHQL's, the 332.21
What was his previous card? Maybe for diagnostic purpose, reinstall his old card back and test again. Also, remove previous drivers completely, especially when switching from AMD to Nvidia or vice versa. Another note: test the GTX560 in his system not just with BF4, try a couple standard benchmarks. It is wise to test a new card installed in a system with this method. If the scores are in the normal range, then try actual gaming later. This is a more foolproof way to make sure the card is not defective because an actual game very often has bugs or just bad coding. Lastly, BF4 has a lot of bugs. So, make sure installing all the patches.
I did a clean install of the OS... tested it even with Furmark + prime95 and no issues in that region, so PSU issues should not be the issue. When I used it on my system, none of this problems were showing. Too bad I don't have the card at hand, so I could test it on mine. I think the only explanation that it just broke down...
