yesterday i bought new gigabyte r9 270x but when i plugged in into pcie slot its not giving any display just black screen

i am using gigabyte b85m d3h motherboard which i also purchased yesterday so every thing is new

i am using dvi to hdmi cable so i tried vga cable by using dvi to vga connector then it says no signals

i tried my both cables on builtin graphics and everything is running fine

then i try gp in other pcie slot that runs on x4 speed gpu works normally and everything is running fine playing games normally but this gpu is not working on main pcie x16 slot if i use dvi to hdmi cable it keeps switching from dvi to analog and after few sec just blank screen and my led power light keep blinking and when use vga cable with dvi to vga connector it says no signal

can some one tell me why this is happening i also updated my bios latest catalyst installed

    my pc specs are

    intel core i5 4430

    gigabyte b85m d3h motherboard

gsill ripjaws 4 gb 1600 mhz

    thermaltek lite power 600 watts

    gigabyte r9 270x oc

    xigmatek utgard case

samsung s20b300 led with dvi and vga connector

Did you disable the onboard GPU in bios, and select the PCI-E card as primary output method?

    Sounds really bizare :S
Are you able to test it in some other system?
Ooh and to help me get this right: You're using the monitors DVI output to HDMI on the graphics card? Or is it VGA > DVI > HDMI?

i tried moniter dvi output to hdmi on the graphics card
then moniters vga output to card's dvi through dvi to vga connectors
is there something wrong at this point?

because both of above mention combination are working properly in pcie x4 slot
i havent test this in another system as no other system is available will do it on sunday or monday

Hmmm, you did nothing wrong, just curious because one of our trainees tried chaining 'em and asked what he was doing wrong -_-

Anyway: REALLY looking forward to the results. IF possible, try another card in your system. Did you reinstall windows due to a new mobo?

Tried changing the input or other settings in the monitor OSD?

    Anyway, good luck! :)

Check pci-e settings in bios. Make sure the slot you want the card to be in (pci-e x16) isn't disabled. Also make sure you have all the chipset drivers installed.

Why are you not using straight HDMI from the card to your monitor?

    Both 6pin plugs are connected?

Strange though that it works in the x4 slot and not the x16. Exchange it for another one or RMA it, but I can't help but think it is the MoBo.

    yes both 6 pin connected
my led only have dvi and vga ports thats why not using hdmi cable
i also updated the bios .if motherboard is faulty then it should also not run the other gpu but other gpu runs totally fine
tomorrow i will call the shop and ask him what to do as gpu is just 5 days old

One last thing to try op is to go into your motherboards bios and look for the boot setting. Change it from uefi to legacy.

If both the graphics card and monitor have DVI ports, why are you using adapters?

Why would you not just use a straight DVI to DVI cable?
