So, my current mobo is slowly starting to give me problems and i decided to look for something else. Nothing critical yet but i guess it's a good excuse to get something new to play with. I know it's not the smartest thing to do right now but i won't be able to upgrade the cpu anytime soon so this is as good as it gets. I need to choose between: Asus Sabertooth Z77 Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 Asrock Z77 OC Formula I have been looking at reviews but can't make up my mind. I like the OC Formula but i'm not sure if it will fit in my case being E-ATX. Google brings up some pics of it fitting so i guess it shouldn't be a problem. If anyone can recommend other mobo's please go ahead. Not much left to choose from here in Belgium though and i would like something on the high end side.
Hi Mike V, The Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 Asrock Z77 Extreme 3 are very nice boards. I would say take the Asrock Z77 Extreme 3, i have one but i don't overclock but i don't need too. the Asrock Z77 Extreme 3 will fit in your E-ATX case just right. the Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 is more met for overclocking & a little bit bigger, but still a very nice board. Note i had a Asus Sabertooth Z77 it was not my cup of tee. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77 Extreme3/
Im an extreme6 user, although its x79 chipset... really good overclocker, No faults, no issues. Recommend to all Also built a 3570k on an extreme4 board for a friend, again no problems, good overclocker, no issues either
So far so good. Everything working as it should. I really like the bios on this board. Easier to navigate compared to my previous Asus. Time to test overclocking now.
Overclocking is tricky. Software says vcore is at 1.38 but when i measure with a multimeter it says 1.44. No wonder things are getting hot lol. Should have researched better before buying.
Well i think when you try to overclock you should have some thing better than 8GB Vengeance LP 1600 maybe something like http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-2400c10d-8gtx
ASUS Maximus V Formula, ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe, ASUS Z77 Sabertooth, ASUS P8Z77-V, ASRock Z77 OC Formula. All better than the ASRock Extreme 6 which is basically an Extreme 4 with an FDD port. lol
There wasn't much available anymore here unfortunately. Should have gone with the OC formula. The extreme 6 is better than the extreme 4 though, and not only with floppy's lol
I'll think i'll just stick with it. Everything works as it should. I can only blame myself for not reading enough before buying.
